Make sure it's totally dark wherever you're watching it.

Oh, I know. Shades closed, lights off, all that. Dark movies can be annoying sometimes.

I'm just talking for the scare factor.

I saw Alien for the first time about 5 years ago, and I watched it alone at night... had to pull my legs up from the floor because I didn't want my feet to be grabbed from underneath the couch.

Seen it twice, IMAX 3d and regular 2d. Y'all haters is craycray. Movie was flawed but ruled noneThe less. There will be a directors cut with an additional 27 minutes which could mend some the problems.

I've come to appreciate the movie more and more over the past week, it really grows on you.
Also all the creators shunning their creations / meeting your maker to discover they despise you stuff is surprisingly relevant with fathers day rolling around

I'm stoked for the extended bluray!
Going back to see it in 3d imax this weekend and taking the lady...I will kick her to the curb if she doesn't enjoy it.

Yeah!
Saw it last night....fantastic. I like stories that leave stuff to the imagination. Thw whole idea of a corperation trying to steal technology from the gods is great....I like the idea of an engineered primordial ooze that consumes dna and mutates it into something else that seeks out more dna to propogate; the idea of a super powerful technology that teeters the lines between destruction and creation.

Just don't go see it expecting action like in the earlier alien movies....

However, l also though LOST was brilliant storytelling that forced you to look for connections and answers whether they were there or not....Non linear storylines are awesome. Long live the rhizome!

But yeah Prometheus is good sci-fi stuff.

huh. i mean, if y'all dug it, awesome. totally not trying to poo on your parade or whatever.

but... it was a BAD movie. spoilers....

NSFW: show
after the annoying ass main scientist guy that was banging Roomi died it went to complete shit. the zombie alien guy? fuck was that? Roomi's character not telling anybody about the psychopathic android that set her up? Guy Pierce in a shitty old guy suit? spastic yet limp writing..... i dunno. i kinda hated it.

and those are the worst scientists EVER. every time they took off their helmets or decided to play with a water logged penis snake or SAW SOMETHING INSDE THEIR EYEBALL AND DIDN'T TELL ANYBODY? just.... bad.

watching them run inside the shadow of the falling thing was funny as hell though. too lazy to grab the link, but today's Penny Arcade comic sums up what i was yelling at the screen perfectly.

"RUN TO THE RIGHT YOU STUPID BITCHES."

Prometheus certainly isn't viewer friendly, so I'm sure many were unable to enjoy it.
Having recently read "The Four Fingers of Death" it was easy to get in the mindset of someone who has just spent the past few YEARS of their life traveling across the universe.

The crew of the Prometheus was most likely suffering from varying stages of "interplanetary disinhibitory syndrome", "planetary exile syndrome", and a mild case of "herpes simplex virus 2"...all of which make their actions more and more plausible.
People watched the film assuming these would be completely rational/sane/fully functioning scientists,
when in fact (if what we know about space travel so far holds into the near future [at least until we invent hyper drives]), they were all most likely suffering from some severe psychological/physiological issues due to the length/distance of the journey and/or the environment.

SPOILER : show
I've got nothin for you on the run to the right thing...that was kinda funny.

and i'm fine with that, hell, that would have been a WAY more interesting movie.... if they'd GONE for that. they did nothing that intimated that was even a part of the thought process behind the script. i like that explanation, a lot, but that kinda comes off as rationalizing a badly written plot hole filled movie with after the fact intelligence. a well told story would have little hints and minor breakdowns to show that's the intent.

again, anybody that liked it, FANTASTIC. i've watched loads of movies that i loved for one reason or another that friends with me thought were stoopid. perhaps i just don't get Promo, but i have watch TOO MANY movies, and i dig on weird or odd or slow paced or fractured performances.... if there's some payoff. for me, there wasna. kinda makes me mad.

So was Star Wars, but that had some serious narrative flaws also that people have always been too distracted by special effects and a quality backstory to acknowledge. Strong highs, but equally shitty lows. IMO, that still doesn't make a "great" movie. To me, special effects/nice sets can't make up for weak plot.

But maybe I'm just pretentious...

(also: I have yet to see this movie, probably won't, ok maybe I will if I'm really bored just so I can diss it with more substance, but then it's going to have to wait for Cabin in the Woods)

God Dammit behndy! I thought we were on the same side on this thread.

I just watched the first couple minutes of the pirated version I dl'ed last night. Besides being in French, I don't think I realized how difficult this is going to be to watch.
