I liked it better the first time when Albert King played it. Then along came SRV with his impressions. Now we get KWS impersonating the guy impersonating Albert. it's kinda sad.

i've related before my immediate response to my first hearing SRV: "oh, GREAT, another fucking white boy who thinks he's Albert King!" i've credited him for getting better than that, but c'mon, wiggas, please. if you're going to pick a blues giant to emulate, don't pick an actual giant, a guy with hands the size of ham hocks who could bend an .013 first string all the way across the damn fingerboard.

seriously, i know people from New York, Chicago, and San Francisco with separate stories about what an insufferable person HK was as a performer at their venue. one guy had to talk him out of going back to O'Hare three or four times before they got to the Metro.

uh y'all must be listening to some right perdy music to find his stuff ugly and unpleasant. its not "ugly and unpleasant" by the standards of breadth-of-style i think you think you hold yourself to enjoy.

personally i'd say the opposite, lou reed just had the blessing of warhol on his side.

i'm listening to whole bunch of music that is dissonant and not that nice in general - for me it's beautiful... Kaiser creates a whole new level of wrongness in music for me though

i've actually seen Henry two or three times...having lived in the Bay Area since 1981, i was here when he first started getting a reputation. it may be that his attitude comes through in his playing to me, but i just don't find anything in his playing that i like. there's a kind of basic humanity and feeling that's missing in his playing for me that's present in many other guitarists who work that part of the musical spectrum. i LIKE angular, detached, and mechanical, but he gets too cut off from emotion for me.
