The pop singers and "musicians" turning my sister into some kind of ditzy whore, but that's more MTV and modern culture I despise for that.

Couldn't care less about John Mayer/Skillex etc. They make their money peddling that stuff to whoever. Mayer may last a good long while, but Skrillex etc. are flash in the pan. Give it two years and people will remember listening to him with no small amount of embarrassment, because brostep is just a trend.

For their talents, I love and loathe Chris Thile, Lajko Felix, Erik Mongrain, the collectives of Battles and Badbadnotgood. Thom Yorke, Bill Frisell and James Blake.

I reckon I'm the guy in my band people will hate on, saying if it wasn't for me we'd be awesome, so I'm loathe to pick out any names of musicians I think are lame.

Having said that:

Lou Reed. And I really dislike Axl Rose because he's an entitled, untalented little prick with some embarrassing egotism. Same goes for Billy Corgan. Writing good songs 20 years ago does not make you awesome, unless you're still writing good songs. If they were personal friends of mine, I'd have walked away by now, I can tell you.
