I used to buy cool phones with bells and whistles but I break them all.
I got sick of it and now I have the cheapest phone that sprint sells and it has lasted me longer than any other.

It's funny because I was very late to the smartphone game, but now that I've had one for about a year and a half or so, I'd be fucking lost without it. There have been so many fucking times that I've been out in a store and was trying to decide whether to buy something and I just said "wait, I can just look up reviews for it right fucking now". It's so goddamn convenient. This past weekend, I went hiking with a couple buds and my printer was out of ink (I always print out and bring along topo maps). No problem, I downloaded an app (for free) that has all of the topo maps. Boo yeah. Plus, the fact that I can get emails and IMs on it means that I can basically work from wherever the fuck I want.

yahp. i'm a huge nerd. so i've had smartphones since the Treo days. and the weird flippy thing Treo put out.... the Pebble or something? that was my first current gen smart 'un.

but the mass adoption of smartphones (Apple is one of my least favorite companies, but they sure know how to get the average person interested in some shiny), and especially there being one dominant model in the iPhone, has made what was an interesting idea into damn near a necessity (at least for me). i spend probably 4 to 5 times the amount of time online on my phone than i do on any traditional computer.

hurm. so, having a second Dinger has been tickling me. they are just beautifully made and super reliable, but using a 6er for everything i'm always a bit freaked out about a bass going down on me live and having to be like, "whelp. um. i guess.... we're.... done?" since i rarelycan borrow someone else's i'm playing with. plus, that's pretty noob doucher un-pro behaviour to expect someone else to be comfy helping out like that.

but i just did a thing with the (not crap, just not GOOD) Dean Edge Q 6er i planned to bring along as a last resort.... and i fucking HATED it. it's like 3 times as heavy as the Dinger i have and AWKWARD to play. the string spacing is all tight and jankety, it sounded okay (i LURV my rig), but it feels.... not good... to play.

so i think as soon as i get some mics for practice sorted and a sampler trigger thing for mah drummer boy taken care of, i'm defo gonna order a second one. i feel silly bringing a $2 g'ish pedalboard and ONE over a thousand dollar bass to gigs that pay out $200 for the whole band tops, might as well bring TWO espensive buggers..... right?

I hear you on that man. I am rocking $2500 or so on amp and cab. 2 Gs in pedals, and a $2600 bass...to those same type of gigs. Maybe next year I will get another good bass as a back-up. I have another bass as a back-up, but it isn't amazing.

I've been thinking about getting another bass too. My most expensive bass is just a MIA P-bass and would really like to get something different. I really need to sell some stuff but for whatever reason can't bring myself to do it yet.
