I know how you feel Legion, there isn't really a scene for noise/drone stuff in Minneapolis so I have no idea the way to go about promoting my music (especially since it's such a niche genre). Just hoping some ILF dudes dig it, I know I'm happy with it :)

I'm finding, after playing a series of local shows, that people (who aren't really into noise and whatnot to begin with) are more into it if you can accompany it with something visual. Just something besides a dude turning knobs and occasionally strumming his guitar. I played a show Saturday and brought the old Disney movie "The Black Hole" to play behind me, and people seemed to really dig it. Plus I played super fucking loud. Are there any avant-garde/edgy/experimental-type art galleries around there? See if they would be down to collaborate on something. That's basically what I've done so far.

oh, and this was done for the equinox.....

I'll do some research and see if I can get in touch with some people, that's a good idea! I could always collab with my roommate who is working on his film major to make a video accompaniment to the album.

digging the new piece by the way :thumb:

Nj0rd, Jfrey, thanks dudes! I'm just now starting to share this stuff with people, so I'm stoked to hear a few people here actually listened to it and liked it. feel free to share!

also, gunslinger_burrito: do you play in the same Hyle that played with Gifts in Fredericksburg, VA in say, 2007? maybe '06? cause that was one of our first shows, and that would be rad to run into you again on here. plus, if that was you guys, you should know that you really freaked the fuck out of my high school friends. I'm sure that if I hit any of them up right now and asked about it they'd immediately know what I was talking about. great job!

it was actually, and I'm pretty sure they were from out west as well, but that was a long time and many brain cells ago. they wore what I can only describe as ewok hats, I'm pretty sure they had projections, and they passed around a copy of 'the owl and the pussycat' (http://the-office.com/bedtime-story/owlpussycat.htm) for audience members to read while they made softer noise before ramping it up to insane volume end of the world type shit... it was something else. at the time it made me incredibly uncomfortable, but it also got my imagination going and I've remembered the experience pretty vividly. I can't find anything about they online though, so I think the names good to go :thumb:

I may have posted this a while back, but I don't think I got any feedback. I'd like to hear what people think, because this is kind of different for me, and it's one of the few things I have worked on that I did an actual recording of - shitty though it is. You also get to hear me trip over my effects pedals towards the end (4:18).

Double post extravaganza.

Just finished writing the first song for my new doom/sludge/grunge/post rock drum and bass duo. This one is more on the doom x post rockish side. Other stuff will be grittier, but this felt good. Finished it after the drummer left (coincidentally he is also named Justin) so I couldn't do a shitty iphone recording, but here's my usual guitar pro export nonsense.
