It's hard for me to have a strong opinion on this, because even though I'm extremely tolerant of other people's kinks, I'm a very vanilla kinda guy when it comes to doin the dirties. I tend to think that those -phile or -ist or whatever labels should only really be applied when they become your primary, or at least preferred means of getting off. If it's just a once-in-a-while thing to add some spice, then that's all it is.

I think that the definition of a fetish is when it becomes necessary, or at least mostly so, in order to climax. So, texbook definition, that.

I think if it's a necessary condition, you have to say you belong to that group. If you need to get flogged to have a good time, you're a flogging fetishist.
