Sadly we lost another music Icon today.
Dick Clark brought Rock, Motown, Surf etc. into American living rooms.

Access Hollywood (yeah I know) did a really good special on Dick Clark’s life today.
I could write a whole discourse on how he influenced both the music industry and American culture.
Imagine having black kids and white kids dancing to the same music.
I will miss him.

Re: we lost Dick Clark
Dick Clark was literally a figure in the music industry for as long as i've been alive, and he tenaciously clung to that position as technology and cultural change pushed him from one platform to another, and even as his disability made it difficult and made him the object of ridicule. And like Don Cornelius, who followed in his footsteps, he did it by reflecting the tastes and interests of his audience. One could indulge the postmodern fashion and critique him from the exalted position of a half-century's distance, but he loved the music and advanced the careers of many, many artists that mainstream TV wouldn't touch in the 50s and early 60s. It's hard to imagine TV without him, in the same way it was hard to imagine Chicago without Richard J. Daley...some smartass though they were being funny when they Tweeted "now we'll never be able to celebrate New Years' Eve again...well played, Mayans!" but to generations of Americans Clark was their Guy Lombardo, the voice you heard every year on "New Years' Rockin' Eve." not bad for a guy who started out as a radio DJ with a good ear. RIP.

With him gone this means no one is gonna countdown to the next year meaning next year isn't coming meaning the prophecy was right!

My band wrote a song relating to Dick Clark. We never thought that he'd be the first to go, before us. RIP.
