Kinda random, but I was just wondering what you cool people of ILF are using as backpacks. The one I had since I was fourteen (I'm twenty) finally had one of the straps tear off. So, yeah, show me some back packs I can use for school and small day hikes.
Yeah, I still have the jansport that got me through all of highschool and college. The only time I use it now is as an occasional carry on bag or something maybe once or twice a year. It's just their most basic model too. If I were to get a new one, the only thing I would change would be to get the cushy straps that don't wear out.

for carryon travel and light hiking i use a Lowe Alpine Rock Pack i've had for twenty years; the waterproofing wore off years ago, but other than that it'll probably outlive me. for around-town shit i use a Marmot lightweight nylon summit pack.

I also have an Ogio that I bought for school, I've got no complaints with it. Lots of little compartments including one for my laptop. Tons of storage space in it and it seems well made, I've been using it for almost two years and haven't noticed any wear.

Nothing really in particular, I just hate shopping for crap like this. Thought I would ask what everyone else is using, so I can make less decisions. I'm probably not going to spend more than $40, but I don't really care if you'll recommend something expensive.
Yeah, I was gonna suggest stuff outta your price range.
Like a messenger bag or something.
I my experience, you get what you pay for. Those cheaper bags tend to fall apart rather quickly (you did pretty well getting four years outta yours), especially carrying around lots of books all the time. Spend a little more, get a heavier duty bag. It'll last you for years and years. That's my advice.

I got one of those Swiss Gear ones from Target, apparently made by the same company that makes the Swiss Army Knife. $50, comfortable, a good amount of space, zippers aren't cheap, has a laptop thing if you want it. Had it for like nine months so far, no problems.
Those Jansport backpacks may be the pinnacle of cool, but fuck they are uncomfortable.

I'm using a nice leather backpack that I got as an Easter gift. I usually end up buying shitty cheap bags that break on me, so having a decent one that looks pretty cool is nice. I can take a picture if anyone gives a damn.
I almost always have a backpack on me. I just keep general shit in it. Sketchbook, netbook, some notepads, any shit I might want through the day. *shrug*

Recommend anyways, I'm willing to pony up for something good. I carry a LOT of books, so something nice may be worth while.
Also, messenger bags, don't they suck for posture?
