Fix'd Fuzz Deluxe or Musket Fuzz

Post by MannequinRaces »

Which pedal, Fix'd deluxe or Musket, will give me the best wall of fuzz sound? I'm intrigued by the Twosome but think it might be more economical to buy just one (even though in the long run I'd save about $100 by buying the Twosome instead of buying individually). Guess I should mention I like the more untraditional fuzz sounds (ie not the big muff sound even though it's nice and all, lol). Thanks for the advice!

I would honestly save up a bit and go for the Twosome. For wall of sound, it's hard to beat the Musket (even though the Fix'd can do this sort of thing). And the Fix'd does all sorts of non-traditional fuzz/crazy sounds.

Fix'd fuzz has huge range, but doesn't get the 'wall of sound' sound in my opinion.
The musket is fucking massive and has the 'wall of sound' sound like no other pedal I played.... but you said you didn't like muffs.
So based on your description, there are pros and cons to both.

I say the Musket.
It is the best fuzz for the wall of sound in my opinion but It can also do all kinds of good stuff.
It does a good distortion type sounds and even fuzzface type sounds.
Just a beautiful pedal!!!

Yeah, I've already got a Blunderbuss and I want a Fix'd.

Thanks for the replies everybody! The more I think about it the more I'd love a Twosome. Not sure if I want a Seriously Special Twosome (don't really care about stacking, even if you can change the order). Call me crazy. :idk: Is it really that much better and don't you loose the ability to just A/B the different sides or am I mistaken?

If you want to A/B, just hit both switches with one stop of your foot. Works like a charm! I could be mistaken, but I think the VSTwosome has the switches closer together so you can do this.

I've got a VSTwosome, and A/B all the time in this manner. I'll also have a SSTwosome as soon as they come out!

I love the Musket, I love the Fix'd, and although I've never owned a Blunderbuss, I've played one and it's awesome. The SSTwosome is just what I've been waiting for!

Cool. What's the difference between the VSTwosome and the SSTwosome? The SSTwosome has a Blunderbuss fuzz instead of the Musket Fuzz. :idk: I'm afraid I'm a bit out of the loop... I don't see the Blunderbuss on the BE website as a pedal currently in production... it's like a different version of the Musket Fuzz right?

VSTwosome = Musket v.2 and Fix'd Fuzz Deluxe (limited run of 100 from PGS, released October in 2010)

SSTwosome = Blunderbuss and Fix'd Fuzz Deluxe (soon to be released from PGS. Limited run? When?)

If you really dig deep, you could track down one of these:

Thanks for the pictures and info! How different is the Blunderbuss from the Musket fuzz?

I think I've made my choice... I will wait for the SSTwosome! :joy: It's gonna be hard to not spend money on another pedal but... I think it'll be worth the wait!
