I love baseball, but this season hasn't excited me at all. It seems like last season just ended. Baseball goes on way too long.
It doesn't help that I'm a White Sox fan. Our season starts today at 2PM and, barring several Central Division plane crashes, ends precisely 161 games later. It's hard to be excited about a team whose owner says we will compete, whose general manager says we are rebuilding, and whose manager didn't even apply for the job. Our new manager, who I loved as a player, was hand-picked by the guy whose last three big moves were Adam Dunn, Jake Peavy, and Alex Rios.
I'm about as hopeful for the White Sox season on opening day as a Cubs fan is in September.
Anyone like Minor League ball? Our local team is the Savannah Sandgnats, a Single-A affiliate of the Mets. Last year was our first winning season since I moved here in 2001. We lost in the league championship to the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

I always follow the Pawtucket Red Sox, which is AAA, and go to a few games a year, since I only live a few miles from their stadium. Plus, the fact that it's the last stop before guys make it to the big league club makes it kind of cool. And occasionally big-league players will play a few games there on injury rehab.

Although I'm a Cubs fan, I do follow the Sox just cuz I'm a baseball fan and they're close.
Everything you said about the Sox is 100% right on and that's Fucked UP!

Not big on baseball but this made me LOL when I heard about in on the radio

The Seattle Mariners have been in Japan since Friday for a whirlwind schedule full of publicity stops, exhibition games and — coming Wednesday — the first game of the 2012 season.
But while the autograph sessions and Blackhawk helicopter rides have been successful, the Mariners haven’t had as much success on the diamond. On Sunday, they lost their exhibition game to the Hanshin Tigers 5-1, and on Monday lost 9-3 to the Yomiuri Giants.

What is this "hockey"?
My Reds have done nothing but get better since they finally ditched Adam "The Human Turd" Dunn; I was flabbergasted by the amount of money that the ChiSox threw at him. What a lazy, useless piece of shit. I feel really bad for Sox fans, with whom I sympathize if only because of shared hatred of the Cubbies.

Yeah, I'm a big Minor League fan (Majors too). If you get a chance you should come down to Jacksonville and check out the Jacksonville Suns.
They are the AA team for the Marlins and the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville is one of best ballparks in the Minor Leagues.
In the past 7 years I've seen Russ Martin, Chad Billingsly, Jonathan Broxton, Matt Kemp, Clayton Kershaw, James Loney, Mike Stanton and quite a few others
play here.
I have a Minor League "Courtesy Card" which gets me and guests into any Minor League park in the country so if you want to come down it's on me.

I remembered a downside to baseball season: My daily commute leads me right in front of Miller Park between the hours of 10AM and 10PM...
