We were on the edge about doing it in the first place but my family was going to be in town that weekend and they really wanted to see us play because they haven't yet. We knew it was essentially a pay to play and the whole music competition thing is blehh but we did it. It was nice playing for a crowd of over 100 people though for the first time.
Overall it was a pretty cool night, we networked with another band who's lead singer/guitarist and his girlfriend run a local radio show and they are wanting to pick up some of our music to play.
I think the best part of the night for me though came out of talking to the sound guy, I had seen him around because he also does some sound set up on my campus when we bring musicians in. He ended up offering me a job running sound at the venue which in return means my band can play the venue much more often not to mention just the overall experience and hook ups that can produce.
