I found amps color my sound and so do strings so I’m going amp and stringless from now on.

I really didn't like the metal composition of my tuners, so I removed them. The tone seems to be better all around.
I've also found that 3-ply pickguards really improve sustain; it's like having a big sustain block on the outside of your guitar. Make sure you use hand-cast screws from a trusted craftsman to maximize pickguard-to-body energy transfer. Single-ply just won't cut it anymore and I'd laugh any so-called "bluesman" out of town if I saw him using one.
Basically, more ply = more tone.

I also reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyy love tubescreamers because it is a great transparent overdrive when i go straight into the soundboard. i mean, i have a tubescreamer built into a cable so its not really a pedal
