Fuckin' nice, wsas.

I think I've finally become one those guys who can make any guitar sing in it's own voice, playing to weird natural tones and overtones.

I'm playing a cheap acoustic with a dead battery as a slide, and it sounds fucking great.

i was reading about this in, of all places, the New York Times the other day. Hatha yoga was originally a branch of tantra. it was DESIGNED to get people hot. back in the 50s this became so scandalous as the result of teacher-plonking-student scandals that the International Yoga Association put ethics standards in place and Iyengar began teaching his de-sexualized yoga method. maybe if i start taking yoga i'll get some. more likelier i'll just get hornier and still nobody will want me. :mope:

Guys in general seem to get attention just for taking yoga with a bunch of women, I'd go for it. Need any tips tomake advances on yogi girls, just ask  :thumb:

What does this even mean?

(BTW, all the TOANS in the dead battery. Fresh batteries just don't sound the same.)

i THINK i know what that means, because it explains something about the difference between between guitarists like me who like to play lots of different guitars and guitarists who find one guitar that's their preferred instrument/type. rather than having a set repertoire of ideas i play no matter the guitar, i like to play different types of guitar because the sound and response makes me play differently since i'm paying attention to what the guitar wants to do. for example, some acoustic guitars just won't do big loud chording no matter what you do, and some large ones won't do complex fingerpicking without getting all muddy in the bass. different electric guitars demand different left-hand styles, different vibrato, different pick attack to bring out their best. some folks hate this because it detracts from their singular focus. i like it because i have a diverse style and like to do different stuff.

Pretty much exactly what dubkitty said. I love playing "shitty" acoustics, because taming those little quirky sounds and bad notes. Finding rhythms that work with them, and playing in a way to use "bad" tone to your advantage.

I mean, my frankenfretless is one of those. It has a weird tone, weird electronics, and a weird neck. Nothing about it is "comfortable" to a normal player, but that thing is my baby.

I think Jack White mentioned it in It Might Get Loud, how he "tames" junk guitars. It resonated with me.
I know that Frusciante used to do it, too, back when he was an interesting player. He would actually abuse his guitars to get interesting tones, in some cases leaving vintage strats in the rain overnight. I'm not a huge RHCP fan, but that was something that stuck with me, early in my playing.

OK, I gotcha. We're on the same page.

I can pretty much get a good sound out of anything. None of the guitars I own are probably something most people would wanna play.

Th ones labeled "SOVIET" on ebay, with crazy reds and about 6 pickups? Because I've been watching how they tend to sell on ebay. They're awesome.

@Chankgeez: Mine are the same way. My action is usually high, my switches are usually weird, and my hardware has some strangeness, too. If I ever have money, ever, my wiring will be confusing to everyone but me, and it'll be awesome.
