Recording
I must record recording is the mind-killer recording is the little death that brings total obliteration I will face my recording I will permit it to pass over me and through me and when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see it's path when the recording has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Re: Recording
Just turn it on and make some noise. It might suck. If it does, start over again. It's all good, baby...
Also, try to record stuff that plays to your strengths. Try to sound like yourself! Set expectations low, and allow yourself to be pleasantly surprised.
But Dune mantras certainly don't hurt.

Oh the first track is sent off for mastering, but putting it in that dropbox was a tremble-worthy action, for me.

Re: Recording
Each time just makes the next time a little easier. The only solution is to record some more!
Also: congrats on sending something out into the cold world. Is it for distribution, or a purely personal project?

Re: Recording
This month, it is for the rpm challenge, but that was just an excuse. Next month, I give it to a couple people who may be interested in doing 7"s, and if that doesn't work I do it my damn self.

I'm trying to get my band to record, it's been a nightmare. I have my part laid down, but a lot of it needs to be redone for better tonez, but it has essentially turned into everyone cancels so I have to go re-record my part on my own just so I feel we aren't wasting the practice space. Hell I'll pull a Boston and do every instrument on my own, especially since I had it turned into my main project for my audio production class.

Ah, the old full-band-flake-out. Never gets old. Well at least you'll get academic credit if you salvage the recordings... usually the only thing one gets from that is a reference to help teach the songs to new bandmates after kicking the slackers out!

This.
I got tired of musicians being themselves. I bought all the instruments I needed overtime and never spend over a hundred dollars on an instrument I don't play exclusively, and I still picked up some pretty sweet gear. Now, I have drums, and 2x15 peavey stack with an old gibson atlas head, an old yamaha bass, and some other knick knacks. I'm bringing in others only if they make it, if not I'll do it my damn self.
It may have been jrmy, but someone said in a recording thread I made a while ago basically: don't let imperfections get in the way of making music. It is better to just fucking do it ugly, than not to do it all.
That coupled with Black Flag's Do It has been pushing my buttons to the damn thing ever since.

Re: Recording
Yea, I have bought so much of our equipment. We had a show coming up one night, so I had to go buy a drum set that day just so we could play, our drummer isn't devoted whatsoever, only problem is there is no one to replace him with. Then it comes to his recording. He makes us stand around while he (figures out what he wants to do for this part) which turns into him just pattering away, then my roomate (bassist) will yell at him for not just playing whatever he plays during practice, which I agree with, and then everyone just quits. booo sorry for the QQ'ing I guess it's just because all of this happened this weekend hah.

The drums were the biggest fucking thing. Dude, I know that feel, bro. I know at least 5 drummers who are "always down to play," but they don't have their own drums. I figured I just own the drums and invite their anxious to record asses over.
More like, I just called their bluff. There is only 1 drummer who is semi-reliable, he's half deaf, and half sober most of the time. Fucking drummers....
Ah well, my mixologist says there are some great sounds coming out of my recording, so that is a relief to hear
rough demo for me in the morning. wooo!

That may well have been me... Getting sick of waiting for other people and not having an outlet for my weirder stuff was what got me going with my Crotchthrottle project. Never let perfection be the enemy of the good! (or the fukt up and crazygonuts)
I'm definitely looking forward to hearing what you did! Post tracks or clips or teasers when you can...
