Did end up getting to jam with this drummer who responded to my ad last fall when I was trying to put together a different band. He's really awkward and talks with a serious stutter (and smells, hopefully that was just today), but he plays drums in the most..."melodic" way compared to anybody else I've played with (like a slowed down Keith Moon, not your typical kick-and-snare-and-kick-and-sna...). It's actually challenging to play along with and makes me be more creative rather than shutting off my brain and getting sucked into the same old funk-rock jam. It should be cool to put together some sort of garagey psychedelic post-punk thing once the potential bassist is free to practice with us.

So I texted my buddy (who won our fantasy football league, but has never done an NBA league before) going "Yo, Eric Gordon?"

This dude is at the bottom of the league right now. This is important.

After some back and forth I get "Yo, my team is in trouble. Everyone's open for trade." After a brief flurry of texts and back-and-forth I end up swapping 'Melo, Marc Gasol, and Jose Calderon for Kevin Durant and Eric Gordon.

I basically traded The Sword and Black Pyramid for Kyuss, Jason-era Sleep and Dead Meadow.

Today I watched Cannibal Holocaust with my best friend. It was the most intense thing I've ever seen, and ever will see, ever. I thought it was 100x more brutal than Last house on the left (the original one).

the new guitar is utterly wonderful. it's by far the nicest guitar i own with the exception of my ES-335 with the broken neck, which is my next thing to spend on. i've never played an acoustic guitar that's so well balanced when played at different spots on the neck; it has remarkable clarity and top end, and this along with the wonderful piano-like articulation on the low strings makes it equally great for fingerpicking and flatpicking. perhaps nicest of all, it has this lovely quality where a gently picked note will bloom and expand after it's picked because the guitar naturally amplifies the vibration of the note, rather than merely transmitting the vibration to the air...it's startlingly loud and responsive when played relatively gently. i like it better than any of the 000s that i played in four years of evaluating 000 acoustics. and since it's a discontinued model which went on 11% off sale before New Years', the guitar which originally listed for $1400 cost me $752. and it's WAY nicer than that cost...it's got 3-layer rosewood/maple/rosewood binding throughout including the fretboard and back center strip. maple purfling under the fingerboard, binding, and headstock facing, ebony fingerboard and bridge, buffalo horn bridge pins, and 18:1 Gotoh tuners. they even set it up. i don't have to do a thing to it other than change the strings. i am officially a Happy Kitty.

:thumb: Nothing like the feel of a really great acoustic. I was never much of a fan and don't own any, but my friend recently bought a Martin, I played that and it was just like "shit.". I never realised they could be so good to play.

I'm finally home from flying all over the US. First thing I did this morning? Brew myself a pot of coffee and sit down to make fuzzy noises. It's good to be home.
