I liked world war z a lot. The survival guide got a bit bland in places though. Is that movie in production yet?

I think I died a little when I saw I am Legend. Hey how about you take a book, throw out like 75% of the plot, change the ending, and remove the whole point of the book that gives it the title so that the title doesn't even make sense anymore? I am Legend.

'cause that's all it is. it's got a pretty screen, but it's running the same free download Kindle software that you can put on any iphone, Android, iPad, PC or Mac.

i just wanted a BOOK replacement. and the not-redrawing screen is PERFECT for text. love the thing. actually gave away LOADS of books after i got it.

Dude, e-ink readers are tits on a biscuit. I got a Kobo touch, and I love the thing to death. My mom has a Kindle Touch which is really cool too. I don't miss the buttons (maybe 'cause I've never had them), but I could see how people would prefer the buttons.

They're way better than real books. :joy:

Alas, the books still cost about the same as paperbacks and you can't... share them (well... you CAN). But it's worth it.

I've been pretty impressed with how well the Kindle touch handles pdf files natively. I load a bunch of recipes on my wife's Kindle yesterday, so now it's a cookbook too.

Just finished A Clockwork Orange, great read. The language makes the book. Now onto A Perfumed Scorpion by Idries Shah, I'm ready for it.

I got a nook simple touch for christmas, been tearing through some "popular" books.
Reading is much easier with e-ink.

Finished Dragon Tattoo (and saw the movie right after  ) Pretty worthy of the hype it gets.
Surprisingly dark/disturbing for how popular it is (probably why the movie isn't doing so hot...nobody wants to see a movie about rape/murder/abuse on christmas)
Nothing truly remarkable but a real page turner and an interesting critique of Swedish society.

Also got through The Hunger Games and Catching Fire...about 80 pages into Mockingjay. I really enjoy this series, reminds me of Asimov for some reason (no robots here though...)
Very plot driven, perhaps somewhat easy to read (she's not overly verbose), but never insultingly simple like in Twilight/DaVinci

Plus Jennifer Lawrence is playing Katniss in the movie

You can put comics and manga on the Kindle too if you download Mangle, it's free and I'm too lazy to link to it.
Anyway it sizes the images to fit whatever Kindle you have.
It's neato if your screen/the type is big enough.

I've never read 1984, so I downloaded it last night.

There are live feed security cameras all over the store I work in, and there are a few hidden spots where we hang out. I think about that book almost every day while I'm hiding there.

I'm not a fan of ebooks for my own reading.

They make an incredible amount of sense for textbooks (especially since textbooks aren't really an open market thing, so universities can still charge obscene amounts for 'em) though.
good deals are here.

So, I was going through this thread, as I was just getting into reading and wanted to pick a book.

Someone mentioned "Stranger in a Strange Land", right? I look it up, apparently it's amazing.

This book is terrible, and someone owes me $8.
