I think you made the right choice. The iphone is an impressive device, but really wish I had stuck with Android, if anything just for the native navigation that is actually useful.
When you buy an iPhone factor in the apps you'll need to buy just to make it as functional as android is out of the box
Oh yeah the navigation is great! I hated my Droid after a few months though, it just got slow as shit. Thunderbolt is working wonderfully though, it's plenty fast.
Also take advantage of Google Music, if you get the EVO or Nexus S, it's very convenient.
