The only brassmaster I've built was really hard to let go of.

I remember that one you did. Did you have any volume drop issues? I remember you loving it. Did you do your own board, GGG, etc? Mine is sounding good despite that issue. I measured the trannies and they measure fine, I don't know what the fuck it is. I have a few other builds with quirks that are annoying but there's a couple that need to be proper. I love the shit out of my Gristleizer but now it doesn't work. I'm retarded - I build for someone else, I am way more anal and take more time, but for myself I'm way more sloppy. Gotta git the Gristle and Brass magic back!

That is probably one of my favorite finishes. I have some old walco packages in my trunk with that same style artwork. Been wanting to use them but you beat me to it! How'd you do the rest of that finish? Looks like maybe the orange went down first, then...a chemical, or heat? was added to the shiny silver/blue coat.

I don't think so. Actually, I remember it being quite loud. The forum member who has it loves it from what he's told me, and has been using it for the latest record/tour I think. Got it from GGG, just like yours. I remember there were some issues in earlier ones, but think everything was corrected by the time I got one. I had one small issue where I didn't tighten down enough, and I had everything grounded to the box but after that was corrected (by Nate) it's been back to normal. What are the issues with your grist? I finally put my board together recently. These things are intense!

Quick little review of the GuitarPCB.com (the place I bought the board from) :

Pros - Great boards that are impeccable for being hand etched

Cons - Lengthy ship time and I think the price is a little high

I'm guessing the delay was unusual as the owner apologized for the wait but I still think the prices are reflective of fabbed boards with silkscreen/solder mask. All in all I'd order from them again if it was something I didn't need in a hurry.

What are the issues with your grist? I finally put my board together recently. These things are intense!

I lost the signal. I think its a loose wire somewhere. It is a fantastic effect, though.

It's a Green Russian Muff with a added pre-gain stage. The two giant knobs are rotary switches for clipping and tonestack options-
Controls:

top row, left to right: pre gain, sustain, tone, volume
bottom row, left to right: clipping selector, tone selector

The clipping selector lets you choose between standard muff 1n4148, germanium, led or zener diodes.
The tone selector selects between standard muff tonestack, flat tonestack and tone bypass.

A metric fuckton of off-board wiring... but it sounds awesome!

Basically, it's the envelope section from the meat-themed pedals, hacked into the crybaby w/ an LED/LDR. The footswitch is made in a fence post cap that I found in a park.

It works pretty well. It doesn't go quite as high as I want it, but I can get some really nice effects out of it.

Sure. It's an auto-wah.

It is pretty close to the envelope section of the Meatball / Meat Spehere / McMeat, with a buffer/gain stage in front of it (sensitivity). It lights up an LED that shines on an LDR that is in series with the wah pot. The wah pot position sets the maximum range. The footswitch shorts the LDR, and swaps between auto and regular wah mode.

It doesn't sweep high enough, so I'm going to try to find a fast vactrol instead of my DIY one.
