The Samsung Galaxy SII is sexy as fuck. iphone does not have 4gish fuck you anything about it, just no 4g, that's it.

It only has 4G-like speeds, and then only on AT&T from what I've read.

he turned the app on, held the phone up and it recorded for about 10 secs then gave the name of the song and artist.

Shazam is a very cool app. Although it sadly/frustratingly does not work with classical music.

Galaxy SII is the way to go. It's badass. The Evo's solid, but the tech is basically a year older than the Samsung.

As for Apple, I'll never buy a phone that doesn't have the ability to swap out batteries or memory cards on the fly, ever.

Galaxy is one of the nicest phones out there right now...it's worth it.

What cases are you nerdy phone dudes using? After a few mishaps I'm looking to upgrade from the itty bitty sleeve I've got now.
Looking at the big boys.

I didn't like that the trident kraken and otterbox defender had built in screen protectors...fudge the protector up and you have to cut it out of the case and super glue a new one in. Plus, I didn't know if I'd like the screen protector.
The ballistic and seidio let you use your own (seidio provides a few of their brand when you buy the convert), but I didn't like that ballistic only offered an SG model for my droid (I wanted the HC case).
So I went with the seidio. We'll see.

I'd probably do straight for this if it weren't $100 more and at that price I feel like I might as well just go with the Evo 3D. Even if it sucks, I can be all, "Hey, I have a 3D phone, you don't. Therefore, you suck."

Not that all phones aren't really 3 dimensional. A real 2D phone would be impressive.

I have an Android phone, and from my experience with it, I would never recommend any Android phone to anyone. This is the buggiest phone I've ever had, most free apps don't work right, some even have tucked up my phone forcing me to do a factory reset. The battery life is non-existent and the voicemail is less user friendly than even my last flip phone.

If you get an iPhone, you won't be sorry. Fuck 4g. If you want a phone that actually works like it is supposed to, and can hold a charge for a full day, and lets you check your voicemail without calling some number and typing in a password, then get th iPhone.

Oh and GARAGEBAND ON YR PHONE need I say more?

What phone and network are you on? They're definitely not all created equal - the free/cheap ones shouldn't even be compared to the Galaxy SII's, the Evo or the iPhone. Never had any problems like those on Sprint with my Epic (Samsung Galaxy S, 1st gen). The voicemail thing is especially ridiculous.

And I can't get it where I live, but when I'm in the city, 4G is mind-blowingly badass. Total game-changer, like the difference between standard-def TV and HD.

I dont buy in to all that 4g hype. Buzz words = profit for these phone companies. 4g is actually just "advanced 3g." Theres a lot of info on it online.

My iPhone4 loads youtube videos in no time. apps download at perfectly acceptable speeds. battery stays charged for days with a few phone calls and a little internet browsing(i dont play with alot of apps regularly). The screen is beautiful, the glass front and back is attractive. Androids that i have messed with just arnt up to par with iphones. They seem to be laggy and buggy. Everything is so fluid on my phone. I thought i would need a physical keyboard, but after using the onscreen keyboard on the iphone, i was surprised it was so easy. i used to have a samsung peice-o-shit and the touchscreen keyboard used to piss me off something awful. oh and im on verizon. im waiting for the iPhone5.

4G is 7 to 10 times faster than 3G, in the case of Sprint's network: http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9201098/3G_vs._4G_Real_world_speed_tests

If you're happy with 3G, cool, but it's not "hype" or "buzz words" - it's roughly the same as the difference between dial-up and broadband internet.

I'm on verizion, and unfortunately am stuck in a contract with the HTC Incredible. My wife got an iPhone a month after me and it blows this phone away. I will admit that the people I know who bought the better Droid phones had much fewer problems than I have had, but their battery life is just as bad, possibly worse, and I have still known most Droid users to have to perform factory resets pretty regulary just to make their phone work.

I've got a droid x2 running gingerbread on big red and it's been nothing short of awesome.
I've got at least a hundred apps maybe more and there is only 1 that doesn't work/force closes, some free physics game that doesn't seem to work on any phones
Never had to factory reboot. Battery life is ok, about a day with moderate usage, 2 with light, and of course much less with heavy use.

If you want a better voicemail with android you just need to sign up for a (free) google voice account, it's pretty amazing.
I actually set up a "fake" phone number that forwards to my personal cell so I can keep my business/personal stuff separate but on the same phone.

I do agree that 4g isn't worth it, phones are getting better but it's still a huge power drain.
With 3g I've never said to myself "Wow I wish this would load faster", I mean maybe occasionally a youtube/netflix vid hiccups but that's it.

Maybe if you're a super important exec who does lots of work on your phone, constantly uploading/downloading files and stuff...sure.
...but that's only 1% of us
