Anyone got some cool stories?

So, in 8th grade, I really, really loved the band 400 Blows. I'd listen to them every day when riding the bus home. And, they really influenced how i wrote songs, because thanks to them, I wrote songs that were one riff, soft, then the same riff loud.

WELL, FLASH FORWARD TO A FEW MONTHS AGO, I get a message from my friend Michael saying "Hey, Parade of Flesh (this booking agent) wants to know if you guys (meaning my band NSP) can play next thursday at Bryan St. Tavern with El Paso Hot Button and some band named 400 Blows" and I was like WHAT HOLY FUCKING SHIT YES.

So, we play the show, and first note of the first song we play, I break an E string. SO, I pull the broken string behind my head, play the rest of the song, and remember I brought a back up bass (which I never do, but luckily did), and play the rest of the set. I meet the dudes from 400 Blows, and they're the nicest people ever, and they really dug our stuff, AND THEN I SEE THEM FOR THE FIRST TIME AND IT MELTS MY FACE OFF. We traded merch, and now I have a sick 7" and their new album. PLUS, I got free pizza at the show.


That ruled.

Hunting accident time!

So, I grew up in Northern Virginia, about an hour south of Washington D.C. If you've been that way, you know it's a fairly wooded area (especially if you compare it to say, Texas) and the hunting is fantastic. Well, my father taught me to shoot shotgun, rifle, and bow by the time I was about 12, and so I would go out hunting with him quite often. Now Virginia hunting is a little different than Texas hunting. In Texas, you're looking at wide open spaces with a rifle while sitting in a comfy blind, often set up in the middle of a field. In Virginia, since the woods are so thick, you're looking at a much shorter shot, so you set up a tree stand. Now, when my dad and I would go out to hunt, we'd set up two stands in the same tree, cause it gave you a better range of fire, blah blah blah. What that meant is that I would go up first and get situated in my stand, then he would come up and set up in his stand. So one particular morning, we were both bow hunting, and we headed out to the stands about 5am (so that you can get all situated and not spook any nearby deer for when the sun comes up). So we tie our bows to some string so that we can pull them up, and I climb up into my stand. I then go to attach my harness to the tree, but in my sleepy haze, fail to properly cinch the strap around the tree. Normally that's not a huge deal, you're just making sure nothing goes too wrong. Well, this morning, again in a sleepy haze, I went to pull the string with my bow up, and instead grabbed the quick release for my stand.

What happened next was my stand folded up on to the tree, dropping me like a rock. Thankfully, my dad saw me as I went past, and managed to grab a hold of the hood of my jacket as I went by. (I was a lot lighter then than I am now.) So now I'm swinging through the air by the hood of my jacket about 30-40 feet in the air. Dad steps back on to his steps, sets me down on his stand, and we get everything situated and settled, and I didn't fall and die. The end!
