SW:TOR

Post by Psyre »

Finally got my weekend beta/stress test for The Old Republic. Pretty excited to finally give it a go. Anyone else pretty big MMO players? I'm sure quite a few have played WoW...

Absolutely, completely burned out on WoW and Guild Wars. However, I am really looking forward to GW2.
Dunno about this one yet. If I do play then I'm making just a basic soldier or something 'cause I know every other fucker is going to be a Jedi.

Yea, unfortunately my main will be a sith inquisitor, mainly because I want to melee tank. However, for the beta I am going to be playing Imperial Agent because that is the class I am intrigued by the most. I got sick of WoW after Wrath came out, sad thing about MMO's is they change too much. Don't even get me started on Star Wars Galaxies, loved that game so much until 2006.

I have WoW and I play a little, but I'm not that crazy about it. I like more complicated games. Also, it's really hard for me to put that much time into games.

I used to really be into Ultima Online back in like 2003 or whenever it was.

Played WoW for exactly one month in 2005.

But, I'm gonna pick up SWTOR and at least give it a try.

Seems to me like TOR could be great if it didn't have jedi. :idk: Like if you could just be a normal guy, like a soldier or a smuggler, and do your job/whatever you want in this big MMO world.

I dunno, I think the necessary class balance will still make the non-force classes interesting. It seems they've set it up in a way that each class performs a necessary function.

So far I am loving it. Voice over work (which was a huge focus) is great. The quests deviate form the "grind" feeling. The story has been gripping. I did my first flashpoint (dungeon) today and it was fantastic. Since it's more of an RPG focus that bioware has put into it, you have the decision making and conversations. In the flashpoint each party member participates in the conversation, and a dice is rolled to determine who's response is used in the cut scene.

The combat is much more fluent than older MMO's like WoW and enemies actually have physics to their death. When a grenade is thrown they go flying.

The classes all seem really great. There are more lightsaber classes running around, but from what I see the gunslingers are performing better.
