yeah, most of what people consider graphic novels are just comic book arcs collected in trade paperbacks.

I used to be really into comics as a younger man. Now I just have a few left. But my faves are (largely) Frank Miller stuff.
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is my all time favorite. Want to pick up Year one ASAP.
Sin City (of course)
Not so much into the sloppy Frank Miller... Dark Knight rises again? I think it's called... 300...

I'm also picking up the Dark Tower/Gunslinger comics bit by bit. Love themmmm!
I'm primarily interested in the artwork. These days there better be a damn fine story with it, too, so I'm pretty picky.

I love X-Men and Wolverine, but it's hard to find a good collection or arc, a lot of them are craptastic and kiddy.

PS don't try to sell me on Watchmen.

I know it's been said, but the hype is worth it: Watchmen is fucking incredible. I'm amazed that people who saw the movie without reading the book enjoyed it. It really takes full advantage the storytelling potential of the genre.

As for comic books Y:The Last Man is great.

Stay as far away as humanly possible away from The Crow, though. Most useless piece of narrative dribble I've read since In the Lake of the Woods by Tim O'Brien.

Y The Last Man, Bone, and Transmetropolitan are the more comicky that i've read through. I would highly recommend all three. Planetary is next for me, i think, but really i just read whatever my more-geeky-about-comics friends give me.
please and thank you.

I dunno. I could never get into comics, manga, anime, etc. Shit really
irritates me for some reason I can't put my finger on.

Guess I don't... fit in here

You should read them.

I have the entire Transmetropolitan graphic novel set signed by Warren Ellis and Darrick Robertson. Fucking awesome.

My favorite comic line is Vertigo. Soooooooooo many good reads from them. DC is the shit for having Vertigo. The Invisibles, Preacher, Sandman, 100 Bullets, Hellblazer, The Filth, Swamp Thing...fuuuuuuuuuckkkkkk. LOVE them.

I'm a total comic nerd.

I have loved comics since I first picked one up.
Sure I would go years without buying any but now with the net and everything old and cool being reprinted now is a cool time to be into comics.
Most genres I can get into some degree but some of my faves would be Hate, Eightball, Sandman, Creepy, Conan, and Marvel 60's to 70's.
Reading has always been a fun thing for me and comics are really what got me started reading.

I still cannot fathom how In the Lake of the Woods was introduced into my high school's English curriculum. What fucking garbage.

Thank you! If you're going to use nonlinear story-telling you need to introduce something new to the story rather than just going over the same depressed nonsense over and over. That goes for The Crow as well. They killed your girlfriend. We get it. You don't need to keep going back to it.

If you get the chance you should read Uncanny X-Force. It's a pretty new series but it's really good and includes a lot Wolverine. It's actually pretty dark and really mature. Not kiddy at all. As far as other comics I really like Deadpool especially the cable and deadpool series which is probably one of my favorites. I have been reading mostly marvel lately, but there seems to be a lot of good batman stuff on the DC side. If anyone else here is into Marvel Comics they should also check out X Factor. As far as graphic novels Watchmen was amazing, I also liked Wanted quite a bit.
