figure one of you cats would know something about this. to me it looks a little low end and old, but still pretty cool. the pickguard/controls remind me of an es-325
thinking about trading my dot and some cash for it. what does ilf think?
early 70's SG junior is what it looks like to me, basically the original version of an SG-X or SG-I. They're nice guitars, i love the patina on that particular one, they we're orginally a lower end gibson, still better than the lower end current production gibsons. Ebay prices are usually 7-900 depending on condition, and if it has the OHSC. I'd say its a worthwhile trade depending on the model of DOT.

yes...that is an SG1 with a changed pickup. it originally had a weird mini humbucker that was privy to that series. for some reason i really liked those guitars...one of my best friends growing up (RIP) had one. his father smashed into 3 pieces after some incident. i loaned him my aria tele and proceeded to fix his guitar. it was my first major repair (i was about 16)...when i took the guitar back to him i found out he had killed himself. i gave them the guitar and forgot to get mine because the news just leveled me.
oh well...that had nothing to do with anything ..........BUT he did own a SG1.
I thought that they came with those mini-humbuckers, but i've seen more than 1 on ebay with a full size humbucker. It may have been an extremely common mod during the 70's - 80' though. I've always wanted an SG-X.... 24 frets, single humbucker, simple electronics, pure rock machine....

I actually really like the way the guitar looks. Dark wood is sexy. If only that pickup was further up... & I know nothing about the guitar. I'm the worst.

Yeah, that looks to be an early '70's SG-I or some variant. Looks like the pickup's been replaced. Low end, old, cool. That about sums it up. I'd play one of those.

Hot like fire, that's what that is right there. I love bridge PU only gits. It's like an SG Esquire. Dig that weirdo pickguard and controls combo. Super cool looking. If the neck feels good I'd grab it.

i dunno about that...give me a guitar with a single pick up anywhere on the guitar and i'll give you heinous tones.
