They're majorly cool, majorly rare anywhere I've been in the US, and seem really expensive when they crop up.

Eastwood Guitars makes a couple of (somewhat) affordable Wandre models, although they are more Strat-like than the Hofneresque models above.

That Eastwood one is pretty cool looking...but there's something about that doesn't sit right.
