You having a child is reason for a suit regardless.

Hypothetically speaking of course. (I'm not opposed to adoption).

Well to be fair, there should be something done. Maybe not a lawsuit for private gain, but ya know...whatever it is the government does for this kind of thing. I'd say homicide, but one of the great gains of corporate person hood is all the freedom without any of the consequences.

I guarantee that the health effects of McD's sugary drinks and shitty food are far more dangerous to far more people than a leaky CO2 line. Do I get sue McD's when my child inevitably get's diebeetus because I'm too lazy to cook at home?

This country is fucking sue happy and it's kinda retarded.

Uhhh, I'm pretty sure when somebody pipes poisonous fumes down your grandmother's throat they owe you something. It's not a nanny state, it's not gratuitous. No one has the right to murder someone due to blatant negligence and not be held responsible. Fuck, they're lucky it's not criminal charges.

Also, don't talk about the hot coffee case, because there are 500 different versions of that story, yet everyone just seems to assume they know what it's all about.

You make it seem like they forced grandma to go into a McDonalds and have a CO2 stomach pump. How are low wage, make work, do the bare minimum required employees supposed to know that there is a leaky CO2 line. I will grant negligence if they were not having regular maintenance done to their CO2 system (if there is even any sort of preventative maintenance program required). This was a tragic accident.

As much as I despise McDonalds,....I despise ambulance chasing lawyers get rich quick schemes and the desire for large sums of money more.

Yeah as far as the hot coffee,...I don't know anything about that,...(you caught me),...I'm just saying,...all these gratuitous lawsuits seem abusive and entitled,...but hey,...I'm really talking out my asshole here.

YMMV, IMO, Mea Culpa, Without the expressed written consent of major league baseball.

The coffee case is kind of relevant.
There is a newish documentary that, in my opinion, clears some things up.
Long link is long

I think the way people look at large corporations and the opportunity for lawsuits is a little fucked.
If this same thing would have happened at small Mom 'n Pop diner it would likely be considered a horrible accident and not result in a multimillion dollar lawsuit.
I am not a fan of McDonalds or any other huge corporation but if we allow them to exist they shouldn't be held to different standards than the smaller ones.

That seems awful wasteful, I'm sure Jack in the box would buy up those kids real fast if a few useless laws were gotten rid of. Old people too, you could call it the soylent green menu.

Like, candles that go on tables, or candles that were tables?

Because lighting tables on fire, no matter much it livens up the party, doesn't count as "candle making."
