Yesterday the 5th of August would have been Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday. he took over the front page on google.com today. In loving memory Brian May (his guitarist in QUEEN if you dont know) threw an awesome concert in London with many special guests also performing. show some love for QUEEN and the queens within queen ILF style with a big ass rainbow. post some stories, video, music, pictures and try keep it positive and maybe even on topic. I'm less optimistic about ILF staying on topic
when I worked at a camp, we would blast queen over the PA when the place was closed and it was just a small crew working. imagine standing on the edge of a cliff looking over a lake making air guitar and air mic poses.
i get in trouble regularly with my more rockist friends for saying that Freddie was the best rock singer. what i really love about Freddie, beyond his work, is that he was truly the self-created man...from the oddest of ducks, a bisexual British diplomat's son of Persian ancestry with funny teeth, he birthed a superstar. he was beautiful because he believed he was beautiful, and adored because he declared that he was adored. there's something almost Nietzchean about him. there will never be anyone like him again.

OK, I wish I had said something that smart.
There was just something remarkable about the way he refused to fit any kind of mould for what a rock singer should be. And the songs are timeless.

lol, wut? Freddie Mercury was the best rock singer, no doubt about it. Maybe not best front-man or vocalist(not that you couldn't say he was), but singer, yup.
Also, today(the sixth) is Roger Waters' birthday. He looks damn fine for 65.

um... yesterday was august 5th?!?
i actually had never heard queen until wayne's world was in the theaters when i was idk 15 or so... honestly, outside of their best of/greatest hits i have not heard much of queen but the hits were the hits and from what i can tell they were an excellent band!
I fucking love Queen. When I was in 8th grade my school's chorus sang Bohemian Rhapsody and my awkward ass got to rip the guitar solo (accompanied by my Flashback Fuzz...and a fat lady playing piano...and 50 teenage girls not sounding anywhere near as good as ONE Freddie) in front of everyone's parents attending the assembly. It was a proud moment.
