I use it on both and it sound great with both; sounds great with both. A good amount of bottom. It can get pretty fuzz like with the gain maxed out (and with the burst engaged on high). The hi-cut is also really nice because at high gain settings you can dial it back to reduce any harsh top end.

Best OD I have played so far is the Lotus Drive, I pretty much have dumped everything else I have in favor of the lotus but it really doesn't have alot of bottom end, more chime to it but not a ton of thump.

I did like the lovepedal amp 50 but it was so inconsistant, what they call transparency I call inconsisitant, I like strats to sound like strats and teles to sound like teles but I hate when a pedal sounds awesome with one and like complete garbage with another.

I've played a Jazz bass, jazzmaster and tele through it and all three have sounded awesome, so I wouldn't worry about that haha.

Today is my birthday so I treated myself to an Idiot Box Deathray and Mad Doctor, since you can't beat $75 a piece for those, especially with expression capability (and that was about all I could afford right now).

Maybe. Have you tried pushing on the string on either side of the saddle to make sure it's at a good angle? Sometimes that will fix it.

I got the Circle K balanced .150 .112 .082 .061 set and it is amazing. For rounds, I'm only buying their stuff from now on.

I have flatwounds and it's like unraveling towards the bridge and that part is sitting on the bridge. Probably a significant factor. Hoping heavier strings will allow me to move the saddle up and give me more tension. I'm definitely going to pick up a balanced set as well. Probably not that heavy, though. What do you tune to? And how do they feel? I had one pair of round that just ate my fingers up and I never want that again.

I tune to BEAD with that set. It sounds (and looks) like the strings are HUGE, but it's great. I can't stand steel strings so their fancy nickel combo (nickel plated? I dunno) is a nice compromise. They stay in tune extremely well and the act of tuning is no problem. Umm..they just feel really good, having all of the strings at nearly the same tension improves playability for me. I tried .130 and .135 Bs from other sets and they were still too floppy for my liking; the ridiculously huge B from this balanced set corrects that. They're just great! Slightly more expensive than a regular set but totally worth it.

Lately I've been doing a lot of sliding and my fingers were only a little tender for the first day or so. They definitely don't shred your fingertips like Rotosounds or something. I'm still in the process of mellowing them out ever so slightly.

Thanks for the feedback man they sound great to me Curious, how much tension does the balanced .112 E have? I'd be looking at a similar gauge for my top string (probably tuned to D) and I like to hammer on my strings from time to time. With my current D (.105) I get very little sustain because of the tension.

Yep, light playing responds well. I generally have a heavier hand than what I assume other people do (based on the internets), but they dont flap around too much. The "flappiness" is comparable to the girly set of Chromes (.45-.100) I have on another bass; still moves, but not loose. You can do fast playing up near the neck without it getting as inarticulate as most sets I've tried. Sometimes I like to wail on the strings so I don't want them so tight that it becomes impossible, or so loose that you get that stupid rattling against the frets. These work out. I'm not trying to be a salesman or anything but they're just the kind of string I needed
I also had to raise the string height a bit because they're so big.

Sort of. Menatones can be WIDELY variable from unit to unit in terms of gain response, EQ response, etc., even within the same generation of production.

The Blue Collar side of the 6-knobber is a little noisy, but I really really liked the amount of gain it had on tap and the note decay. Looking forward to trying out the new one.

I almost bought one of those mad doctors a while ago, they seem great for a straight forward pedal that's definitely cost efficient.
