Where in RI will you be? Both BigChief and I live here.

In Providence, I'd recommend B-Sharp - http://b-sharpmusic.com/ - totally great guys, small shop, but plenty of personality. They stock EHX and some Earthquaker and have an ok used selection (there's occasionally a Death By Audio pedal or two in there), but they also make some pretty nice pedals. Ted Leo uses their Malasadash dirty boost / OD. I use their Grim Rimmer robo-fuzz (it's like a tight octave fuzz, except it generate some really cool non-octave intervals when used with chords). They've also started building their own amps. They were going to come out with a Sunn Model T clone - can't remember if that made it to production or not, but it was well on its way when I last checked.

B-Sharp is at:
265 Broadway
Providence, RI 02903-3038
(401) 223-2112

Also, check out Empire Guitars - http://empireguitarsri.com/Zen/ - also good peeps. This is the place to go for ridonkulous collector electric guitars in PVD right now. Also a good selection of decently-priced beaters. O.K. selection of FX, though not as nutso as I'd like.

Empire is at
1271 North Main St.
Providence RI, 02904
1-877-55-TWANG

For fancy-shmancy custom shop guitars, there's Noll Guitars in Cranston - http://www.nollguitars.com/. Been a while since I've been in, but they definitely know their stuff.

Noll is at:
173 Macklin Street,
Cranston, RI 02920
(401) 275-0880

No prob. I'll be sure to update if I think of anyplace else worth checking. Enjoy the beach... they're pretty stellar right now.

Stop by the Ocean House in Watch Hill; it's this gorgeous new hotel that a billionaire dumped a whole bunch of money in to. The guy also has a beautiful restored powerboat in the harbor there named Aphrodite. It's a 90-foot boot from the 20's. You can just imagine Jay Gatsby riding by on it.

For guitar shops, Alpha Audio Works i nearby in Mystic CT. They have Heritage, Nash, G&L and some others if I remember correctly. I used to live in Stonington, CT, just over the border from Westerly. Ron's Guitars is a little further into CT in Groton. They have PRS, Fender, yada yada...
