I've always thought sexism has nothing to do with being female or male but having everything to do with being ignorant and overly confident in one's
self importance but I'm also gonna say some people grow out of it and some don't.

The only close female friend of mine that isn't a friend's girlfriend or my wife's friends is a girl that I made a pass at way back in college, she shot me down with extreme prejudice, and then we somehow both made it past that without much lingering weirdness and now we're really close friends (going on 13 years now, twice as long as I've known my wife). And I have to say, it is actually really cool to have a close female friend, because I can run things by her when I have arguments with my wife (or if I think one is imminent). Having access to the female mind is incredibly helpful sometimes. I think the fact that she shot me down so unequivocally made it easy for me to just forget about ever hooking up with her, and then I realized I really did like her as a person, and became friends with her.

It really helps to become close friends with someone you have already slept with or even someone you were together with some time ago. The sense of mystery that sometimes make you want to seduce a female friend is then gone. On with the good life. Also with some friends I just jokingly propose fucking from time to time and then they say nay and everything is peachy for a while.

Ever since I broke up with my last girlfriend 2 years ago, this seems to be the pattern. Hang out with a girl for a couple weeks and I'm totally into her. After that, my interest starts to wane quickly. Usually right after they tell me that they like me. I'll go from seeing them or talking to them daily to just once or twice a week (not to be too crass, but mostly just for sex) while simultaneously start dating another girl. Pretty soon the first girl drops off the radar completely and the process starts all over again.

Currently I am dating a girl who is really awesome, but I'm losing interest fast. She's really nerdy, incredibly intelligent, plays bass, is bisexual and is really really hot. Everything I could want, right? I thought so too but I have a date with a new girl tomorrow night (which is a pretty funny and awesome story in and of itself). I knew exactly what was happening when I asked her out but I couldn't stop myself. I'm excited about it but at the same time I feel like an asshole.

I know, I know. Most guys probably don't see this as a problem, but I'd really like to meet someone that can hold me attention and interest indefinitely. Not to mention getting my friends wives to stop hassling me about "settling down."

I met my wife and within 6 weeks we were married. Of course she did get pregnant, but still, we've been married for 9 years. So I say, just marry the next girl you meet.
