Saw a band the other night had one of these that sounded super cool, even though they just used it for a single drone, whereas I see lots of possibilities for "playing" it more, especially into some delay:

One of my professors has this, playing with the pitch while it drones give you a similar effect to the organ pitch shifting during outro of "The Widow" by The Mars Volta. A lot of fun to play with.

the drone is the whole point. raagini are nice but a little expensive. your not really supposed to play them. if you want to play melodies on a drone machine than get a real tambura for $300 for the same price as the drone box. drone box has internal tempo so its kinda difficult to play it like a keyboard without constant timbre. I gotta drone app on my phone. you can get a budda box from china for $7. circuit bend it for a penny.

In: I bought my TAFM back from fetch a while ago and I believe it's on the way :omg:
Also considering a Pedal Power 2+ and a Boss LS-2 for wacky stereo rig action at a friend's house. But...I dunno how much use it'll actually see yet.

Soon out: Verellen Big Spider...I know I said I would never sell it, but it's going to a good cause and I'll get a new one anyway. A green one!

So my previous purchase of a custom made pedalboard fell through... the company had run out of the type of tolex I'd ordered blah blah...

I've ended up ordering this bad boy, which seems to be exactly what I was looking for, but without the building wait time! :thumb:

Man, I REALLY wish I had a mic. If I want to record some shitty noises I'd like them to sound like shitty noises instead of just shit.

Isn't there some way to hook up an SM57 or something through a tiny interface so that I don't need an entire mixer devoted to one microphone?

I use an XLR to Aux adapter and just plug my SM57 into the microphone input of my laptop.

Or you could try the Shure X2U which is just a small one channel pre that plugs into a USB slot

any unbalanced mic can in theory plug into a line in of a laptop. the sound is sometimes a bit off due to the impedance mismatch. like wes said, you need the right cable. or you can make a cable. it gives me nightmares that I would pull on the cable and destroy the jack in my mac book pro. I've seen it happen and there is no coming back from that.

SS/BS TAFM - Ebay score for $132.50. Bought on a whim but now I'm pretty excited about it.

There is a (black edition) TAFM on eBay at the moment... but USA only :grumpy:
