The Liquor Thread!

I love my beers, as do most people. But I'm in college now, and it's not so easy to crack open a beer. I've always liked liquor, but i didn't really drink it that much. Mainly stuck to vodka's. I do enjoy three olive, but i really wanna try some newer stuff, namely Ketel One and Russian Standard. As for whiskey, I love woodford reserve.
What's everyone out there sipping on? suggestions?

Try;

High Ball Glass build over rocks,....4 count Kahlua,....4 count of Vodka, 2oz Half and Half. Fill with Cola. I've seen club soda mention in these recipes,...but I'm not to keen on that idea.

It's called a Smith and Wesson. A Smith and Kerns is the same thing only without the vodka. For you non bartender types,....a 4 count is essentially a shot free pouring. It's supposed to be 1 oz. Most (good) bartenders over pour though.

Dry Fly is actually a local distillery and I've volunteered to bottle for them many times. It may be a wheat vodka but it is excellent. They also do Gin and as much as I hate Gin,...Dry Fly's is excellent. They also have a very very small batch Whiskey operation. I have a bottle of it, and I don't wanna open it.

so your on campus and they have a no drinking policy? you have to bribe the snitches. I'm a tequila drinker but as a second choice I'll be down for whiskey or any random mixed shots. ask me anything about tequila. and dont even bother with jose quervo. its not tequila. its garbage.

Honestly, though, to me it's a winter drink and it's a bit hot in LA in the summer really. Nevertheless...

For American, Jack Daniels and Maker's Mark are very serviceable.

it's tricky. I'm the only 21 year old on my floor because i apparently didn't choose a dorm so they put me with freshman. the rules are you can drink in your room all you want, and keep whatever you want. i usually just walk around with a thing of coke that happens to have sailor jerry in it....

Might try with root beer though.. I'm wrong enough to try that....

My old fave back when... was stoli&soda a lime.

Actually with the Cola those Smith and Wessons taste like an alcoholic root beer float.

sailor jerry? isn't that the stuff they sell by the gallon for $8. gives you a headache and beats up your liver more than necessary. I never understood why people are into the bottom bottom shelf liquor. do you really have to drink everyday? just save your money and drink something classy when you can afford it. you may not be an alcoholic but all the people I know who drink that cheap stuff are. thats just how I think

I was under the impression that Sailor Jerry wasn't a bottom shelfer. Maybe not a top shelf but somewhere in between. Also higher proof.

The cheap stuff varies region to region. Round these parts the nasty stuff is called Monarch. It's usually what the bars use for well drinks. The well is the speed rack under the bar (behind the ice bins) and usually will have bottles of cheap bourbon whiskey and a scotch whisky, rum, vodka, gin, and tequila. Usually if you don't specify that you want a Jack and water or a Captain and Coke or whatever,...they give you what's in the well.

I always liked Stoli.
