It really is awesome news. Better late than never(and I ain't just talking about NY,either). I live in Alabama,which is considering passing a Medicinal Marijuana bill,so hopefully,that goes through,with gay marriage close behind. I ain't gonna hold my breath,though. But let's face it;there could be some sort of backlash. Take the civil rights movement. After Desegregation,there were countless attacks on black people. On the flip,most of the gay guys I know IRL can fight like a motherfucker. They had no choice,living down here.

i'm also going to disappoint the people who expected me to go off on a huge rant on this subject. i'm not convinced that redefining marriage is a good idea; however, if the institution of marriage has been grievously damaged, it's been damaged by the loosening of the divorce laws, the willingness of heterosexuals to discard their spouses as soon as they become uncomfortable or inconvenient, and the institutionalization of such dysfunctional practices across society and across racial and economic groups as unmarried births to serial fathers, etc. if marriage can't withstand the additional pressure of what, from the experience of the states which have legalized gay marriage, is a vanishingly small number of gay couples wishing to tie the knot, then i can't really blame homosexuals for that. and given that my favorite person in my whole family was my brother George, a gay man who died of AIDS in the 80s and lived with his partner for 20 years, i can't see denying him and his partner the right to marry if they'd chosen to do so. and if you're gonna have gay marriage anywhere, shouldn't it be in NEW YORK CITY, the home of gay culture in America when the Castro was still a middle-class Italian neighborhood?

Got into an e-arguement on gay marriage today, going to post it here for your enjoyment. I didn't respond to their second posting because it'd take pages upon pages to filter my anger.

Anti-gay marriage:
I really can’t stress this enough. Marriage is between a MAN and a WOMAN. I’m not a homophobe. I’m not a “homo bully”. I don’t support gay marriage. And I’m actually proud to say this. What’s more funny is, I will probably get blasted for my OPINION.

Being against gay marriage is a choice of my personal beliefs. Isn’t that the same as gays making the choice of their sexual orientation? So, why then do they complain and moan and groan about how they have no rights blah blah blah, and how the whole world hates them, and yadda yadda. Just because I choose to have an opinion of my own doesn’t mean I’m wrong if you don’t see the world the same way. I love love love how gays are all like “well, you are a gay hater because you dont support us”. No, please shut up. I just think men don’t belong with men, and women don’t belong with women. Furthermore, I believe that allowing ‘gay marriage’ devalues the meaning of a true Christian marriage between a woman and a man.

I really don’t care if you choose to be a certain way, because I’m tolerant. I understand people have differences, and I accept them. I have no choice but to ‘accept’ gay marriage. Tolerance does not mean that I have to support gay marriage.

Maybe the gay community should learn to be more tolerant, as well. Because I’m going to get soo blasted for my choices, yet I’ve never blasted someone because they were gay.

This is possibly the worst first impression of all time. I am embarrassed to be attending school with someone who still thinks like this. You saying you’re not a homophobe and don’t support gay marriage is like saying you aren’t racist but you didn’t support civil rights, it doesn’t add up at all. You say it is funny that you’ll be blasted for your opinion, but I don’t see what is so funny about your “opinion” denying basic and humane rights.

Being against gay marriage may be your choice, but it is also your choice to be ignorant. AND SINCE WHEN HAVE PEOPLE CHOSEN TO BE GAY!? Are you really that closed-minded? You do realize there are countries where it is a crime punishable by death to be gay? We live in a country that promotes freedom, that includes freedom for sexual orientation. And no, you choosing to be against gay marriage isn’t like someone choosing to be gay. You choosing to be against gay marriage is like someone choosing to be an illiterate buffoon.

Also, don’t try to place the blame on religion. When you say “‘gay marriage’ devalues the meaning of a true Christian marriage”, you seem to forget there are Christian churches that sanctify same-sex marriage. Besides, the Separation of Church and State is a value that our nation was founded on. You not supporting same-sex marriage devalues the meaning of a truly human marriage. What is important is that two people love one another, not their sexual orientation.

“I really don’t care if you choose to be a certain way”, yet you will deny them if you have the chance? You may say you have tolerance, but I have none for you. And don’t say the gay community needs to be more tolerant, I’m straight and recognize how ignorant you are.

If you’re wondering why I reblogged you’re entire post, it is so I can show others your true thoughts since you are so “proud” of them. Enjoy your next four years at American, I hope I don’t have to be around you too much!

Lmfao, is this guy for real? First off, I’m entitled to my own opinion, thanks. You are “embarrassed” to go to a school with someone who doesn’t share your views? Awesome. Hypocritical, but awesome…not. See, people like you are really ignorant. I have a complex opinion that you obviously can’t understand. Foremost, I honestly go by the policy “live and let live”. As in, “whatever, gay marriage irks me, it goes against my beliefs, but whatever do what you’d like”. And I LOVE how you compare it to the civil rights movement. Lolololololol. Yes, I oppose gay marriage. No, I won’t bash gays. No, I won’t help their cause either. What is so wrong with my view? My CHOICE? nothing, actually. I choose a view based on my religion, just like everyone else chooses what they believe in, and what they feel. You act like I’m some homophobic hater who constantly barrades the gay community with insults because of their sexual orientation. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I have tons of friends that are gay. And I’m happy for them. Do I support fully their decisions? Probably not, because of my opinion. Seriously, I’m just voicing the other side of the story here. The one no one ever bears about. Because according to this ignorant, dumbass, completely idiotic jerk, I HAVE to be a homophobe and a gay hater because I don’t support gay marriage. Come on, grow up. Face the fact that people can form their own opinions different than the mainstream relative thoughts. Oh, and btw, I hope I don’t see you too much, either. I’ll probably get criticized for what I wear, or how I walk, or how I talk, etc.
