Things I need for my current project:
Danelectro Reel Echo
Line 6 DL4
Mid-fiPitch Pirate

Things that would help my current project:
EHX Micro Pog
TruckLoud
Dr. Scientist Sunny Day Delay
Freakshow Digilog Delay
Danelectro Spring King
Envelope Filter of some sort

Things I will probably need to get rid of:
Digitech Reverberator
Fender Blender RI
EHX Screaming Bird
Maybe my Analogman Peppermint Fuzz and EHX Black Russian Muff

All in an effort to create a loop heavy shoegaze/surf/soul band. :!!!:

I don't know why, but I just imagined you playing guitar to a version of this.

One's a "student model" brazilwood bow (student as in it's what he would consider letting a student use, which is higher than others may be) and another is a stamped pernacumbo. Obviously there is a large price difference between the two.

Oddly enough, the student one looks cooler. The grip looks nicer (it's mixed with black and silver wire) and the shaft is octagonal as opposed to round on the other one. Really though that's purely aesthetic; I'm hoping to play both of them a little on Sunday, make a preliminary judgement and then take the one I prefer into rehearsals next week before making a final verdict.

Also got a Thomastik Spirocore low B string to put on the NS Design CR-5M. This thing is gigantic; the silk on it was impeding getting it through the ferrule at the bottom of the bass, so I pulled a little of it off. Then at the tuner, it was pulled off again so I could fit it in. But it's on now, and is stretching over the weekend. I think it's going to sound awesome.

I was right on both counts. The B string sounds AMAZING, and rattles the entire bass when you bow it slowly. Great tone out of it; can't wait to use it during CHICAGO.

Secondly, the student bow won out on my testing this evening. The Pernambuco bow was very nice and well-balanced, but the tone it pulled on the CR-5M was on the brittle side of the spectrum. The student brazilwood one had a mellow sound that was very close to the sound I got out of the bass with pizz. In comparison, my current bow seems to fall between the two bows tonally. It's definitely louder, but I'm attributing that more to 20+ years of using it and having well rosined hair on it.

SG should be here Monday, and just ordered an EQD Monarch and a Wilson Haze vibe unit.

Guess I should work harder to get rid of some redundant pedals.

Thanks man.
I'd love to hear some word about that Wilson vibe whenever you get it. I've been scoping univibes for a while.

I'll do that. Video demos sound good, but you know how that goes. I dig that it runs @ 9V...almost every other vibe requires oddball power. We shall see!

Well, I cancelled my order for the Wilson, and decided to spend the big bucks - Sweet Sound Mojo Vibe.
I'm also getting a Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe in a trade. I'll report back on both.
Maybe partying will help.

A well-rosined bow is a great thing.

I know. We'll see how this brazilwood bow does during the week, when I can build the rosin up on it a little more (and stretch the horse hair too). If it performs like it already has, I think we'll be in business. If not, I can pull the pernambuco back out and give it another look.
