I needed a buffer to test things properly, so I built this 1590A JFET buffer... and named it Mr. Buffles.

inspired by this build
AB box. after seeing the one on DIYstompboxes.com, I thought there was room for improvement. so I added an LED. the guts are nothing special, just two open jacks with terminals cut off and one closed switchcraft jack with %90 of the plastic cut off. led is held by the switch.

Nice job. I'm gonna try to put a feedback loop in a 1590LB...just have to work up the nerve sometime.

Finished up the Breakout box for a Beavis Board.



Tomorrow I'm going to mount everything up to a board so it's not quite finished,...but,...the hard part is done.

I just finished mine too, which works but isn't nearly that neat or pretty. It's in the small Home Depot electrical box. This is the first pedal-like thing I've done, so my 9v power jack wasn't mounted before soldering and it's stuck inside. My LED bezel doesn't have the nut inside so it's floppy. Better luck next time.. I'll just pick up a cheap Danelectro 9v supply and leave it permanently plugged in.

I also drilled too many holes, because my first holes made pieces hit each other inside. So there's another skill to learn..

But, the LED goes on and I can measure voltage and change it with the pot. So I think I can start doing projects.

I did the same thing having to drill more holes. Just gotta spend a little more time on designing the layout.

I was able to measure the voltage sag and get the LED on as well. I actually wound up with a cold solder at the anode side of the LED so I had to remove the shrink tube and resolder the lead to the resistor on that side.

It will pass a signal both bypassed and engaged (provided you know how to hook it into the breadboard properly,...see photo in my previous post, the one on the carpet with the BB box in the foreground and the bass in the background). So I know I got it up and running.

Having the base lid serve as the top of the enclosure made things a little difficult. I've got long leads so I can open it up should I need to preform a repair,....otherwise the base lid would be attached to the board and make the innards inaccessible.

Looking like Monday and I'll have everything mounted up to a board (need to make a few pedal risers as well).

I had to jacket the leads of the LED and I glued the kings head to the pot to keep it from touching. you really cant make any mistakes on drilling or wiring on a build like this. the power jack was the last thing to get fitted since it cannot be removed. It was challenging and fun but I dont think I want to do a lot of 1590A's.

Here is my Beavis Board all mounted up. The circuit I'm working on is a work in progress,....but I think I may have bitten off a little more than I can chew.
