Re: What is in the post? The thread of and for GAS!
So thanks to monkeydancer and that "$2300 for a guitar" thread I've been looking at Creston guitars all day and have developed gas for a "dream guitar."
~ Jazzmaster shaped body made from some piece of old wood with a lot of character. Satin finish.
~ Maple fretboard (tan, not yellow) with slightly larger than vintage frets. 25.5 - 27" scale length.
~ Dunno about the bridge, hard tail or trem.
~ Since he suggests Jason Lollar pickups, two single coil Jaguar pickups (black or vintage white cover) in the neck with a switch to go between only using one pickup or both in parallel.
~ A flat black pickguard, cut to be more fluid since it wouldn't have to wrap around a bridge pickup.
~ One volume knob, one tone knob.
~ Old/dirty looking hardware.
~ & finally, enough routing room under the pickguard so Aen could put oscillators in it just like endsjustifymeans' guitar.

I hear you! I am so glad I got another one coming it's as if christmas was on the way over the atlantic. It is weird though because when I had it I loved playing it but it was totally obvious I'd never be using it in a band because it's just so full of doom that I'd have to form a heavy band just for that thing. And it is a lot of money tied up in something you don't use in a band. But now I have learned. It is an awesome freaking fuzz and a good outlet while I'm in the practice room waiting for the other guys to show up.

Aren't you in a drone band though? I figure it would be easy to integrate that into drone/doom.

I thought so too and tried it, but it did not play well with the setup. Our sound relies strongly upon filtering guitar feedback through the 4eyes and something didn't work out when I had the Megalith (Damn typos I almost had this saying Magelift) engaged. I can't remember what was the actual reason for me dismissing it, but something didn't work.
[shameless spamming]Did I mention that we have recorded our second album and everyone can be fans on our FB (http://www.facebook.com/owwlmusic) where there will be further info about release etc?[/shameless spamming]
