Violence. Yeah, I'm with Bloo here, who already knows I come from pretty wild background after joining bands and quitting the martial arts and sports. I tried to be a good boy but somehow people always wanted to pick up a fight with me. Guess I wasn't looking too intimidating. :idk: I leave details blank but I've been tried to stab a few times, my old GF has been threatened ana harrassed and shit, and if leaving has not been an option, I have answered with needed force. Oh yes. And tried again to run. :idk:

I have a pretty long history with martial arts, too, and at some point my Sensei and Coach harbored dreams of getting me in the Finnish Judo Olympics team. Yeah, for real. Before playing Rock 'n Roll took over and I concentrated on that. And getting friends from all sorts of circles. Anyways. Having done Judo, Karate, Aikido, kobujutsu and Kendo I found out I really enjoy the noncombatative but bitching Aikido and we have a Dozo of our own with old friends.

MMA is something I really don't enjoy watching. Perhaps it's just that I find the actual gladiator reference to be true and distasteful - panem et circensis. I'd rather join even join in the Russian Systema rehearsals than would watch the commercial MMA.

I worry too much about permanent bodily damage to see any reason good enough to willingly try to damage each other. And I don't understand the 'unavoidable' kinds of fights, either. But something about getting in a fight sounds appealing nonetheless.

Being skinny and wearing glasses since I was eight made me an easy mark for school fights. So I had to learn how to throw a punch, and I liked it. But having said that, the only fights I remember are the ones I talked myself out of. Half of those; that guy really needed to be laid out. I don't think it's worth to fight. It feels petty.

Also, MMA is gladiatorial, but at least both guys live(slightly), and they signed up for it. It's their own choice.

combine that with being the token asian kid in an upper-middle class, predominately white neighborhood, and that's pretty much how i got started.

Surprised at hearing about everyone fighting so much, I guess I never went to a normal high school much (got kicked out 2 months into my freshman year for drugs, spent the next 4 years in various alternative schools and rehabs and whatnots) but even at the "bad kids" schools I spent time in fights were pretty much localized to the Mexican or Tongan kids and got broken up immediately. I guess this was before metal detectors so everyone knew we all had guns but still, Kinda shocking. I assumed affluent white kids wouldn't even experience fights in this day and age, shows how much I know.

Unfortunately, even when segregated to their own socioeconomic group, kids will always separate themselves into strata so that the most violent, sadistic and power-hungry have people to oppress and make themselves feel powerful in their puny little existence.

Some kids just need an ass kicking.

Maybe if they bring PE back, a new game could be the kids vote on a bully, and beat the shit out of him.

I'd be totally down for that.

problem is, the kids wouldn't vote for the bully...they'd vote for the least popular kid, i.e. the bully's victim.

There's a game that is like this, it's Ultimate Dodgeball. The class would get rid of the weak/unpopular, then tear each other apart.
