Cleaning up the neck and getting all the gunk out of the frets will liven up the sound a little (along with a new set of strings and a fret rim job).

how does that Maton play? and what's the other guit?

The guitar is a Maton Ms526 deluxe which is now discontinued along with the MS520s and the sparkle top MS524s. The maton has become my number one guitar. It stays in tune no matter how hard i play on it. I really beat it up sometimes. It is my most solid guitar. The other guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Double Cut Studio. Both guitars are tuned down one step to D.

Man, Grabbers are super cool. If I had a router I'd do a weirdo Grabberesque pickup rail mod to this body...

Coool. I want an offset. I love my Mustang bass, but still haven't picked up a six string offset.
Maybe partying will help.

My El Degas LP. $90 CDN, it has two black eyes and a bloodied lip.
Image
Body crack goes 6mm into the body, neck bucker was smacked and bent funny, first inlay is cracked, output is super temperamental, but this is my favourite guitar. I would have never thought I'd love an LP(copy) so much.

Sweet, I'm guessing you're in Canada as it seems that the El Degas brand was almost solely sold here. As I posted in the GAS thread I scored a free mid-seventies El Degas acoustic today, I think I may like it more than my 25th anniversary Seagull.

^^^ yep I'm Albertan, El Degas get this weird rep for being cheap and a better quality than Gibson's of the era. They are real quality instruments.

It will also kill mojoz :( .

Well :whateva: don't know about that, it looks like the tones really could use it, that much dirt is going to darken the sound a bit and the grabber sound really works better - to my ear -with the crispy edge to the gnarly mids, like i sounds with new-ish strings.

Pretty fucking cool basses, both.

congrats on the build, looks good, though the color isn't exactly among my favorites :p

Was it an easy project to put together?

Instruments family shot. Most of my stuff in there. Not pictured is a Strat currently in pieces and body stripped for new paint job, a P-bass with a broken neck, and a Duo Sonic I left at my parent's house in New York. Need to go pick that thing up.
