I use the Push Ups app on my Android phone. They've got a Situps and a Squats app that do the same thing for those respective exercises. Basically, you tell it how many push-ups you can do initially, then gives you workouts of increasing difficulty. Based on how hard you rate the workout at, it computes the next workout to present the right amount of challenge.
I'm working up to 150 pushups but I take days off all the time, so I'm not nearly there yet.
In the past 2-3 years I typically rode 200-400 miles per week on my bike in the summer months. (And a lot less in the winter.) I haven't quite started that training schedule and I don't have a commute that's 15 miles each way anymore, so that may not happen this summer. Maybe I'll try to work up to a century (100 mile) race, though!

Double checked my math and I was riding 180 miles a week on my commute as it was, plus we frequently would take rides at night and long rides on the weekend.. so 200-300 miles a week. Maybe I hit 400 once. Anyways.
