Most of the spaces in my area are pretty expensive, but if you look around you can definitely find some decent deals. The average is around $400-$500/month from spaces my band checked out before we settled on the one we have now. We pay $250/month. We had to put a bit of work into it, but it paid off in the end.

This thread is making me miss my band's old lockout studio. Even though the walls were paper thin and I almost got stabbed a few times.. It was still pretty cool.

Here's our spot. It's pretty damn small for 5 guys but it's in my house so I have nothing to worry about if I have a couple beers during practice. My neighbors are extremely tolerant, thank God.

You guys should be glad you have a place to jam. It's been a very hard thing to find throughout my life.

I saw this picture of Hendrix, all he used was a wah.... And not even the Jim Dunlop Jimi Hedrix wah, just some old thing.....
Jimi didn't realise the horrible tone suck we had to listen to every time he used that wah.

It was supposed to be dub echo, but it's so cool that I'll let it go.

I don't have a photo of the room we're in right now, but I have made a photo series for a magazine. These are mostly friend's and mostly local's practice spaces. The first one is obscene, because it is only one band that has all that shit. They also had two cupboards full of pedals they don't have on their boards. Well, to be fair they do rent it out as a studio too, but still. FAWK!

This is my drone band's setup. We actually play in the other dude's living room but wtf...

These two are probably my favourite shots. These are from the math rock band PTTRNS and from my friends, the metalheads of Woburn House

Renting out your extra equipment & studio space for recording seems like a great way to pay the rent.
