Live: narrow gate, from Courtland NY, not sure they are even still together.
When we got their demo it sounded like the vocals were run through an octave pedal but he pulled it off live.
Plus: Bass player was like 6 months pregnant.
That was 7 years ago and I have to meet that Kid I bet he is awesome.

Show was in a parking garage and they opened for my old band, they just crushed the place.

The first time I've seen Mogwai was in a venue of 200. It was the heaviest ever. That was right after come on die young came out. Awesome!

I am also very fond of the memories of Machine Head and Pantera (in the nineties) Probably not as heavy as other stuff, but still... it was awesome.

Other bands I can think of that are runners up: QUOTSA (In the same venue as Mogwai, fucking great too), Boris, Nadja, Melvin, Electric Wizard, Chevreuil

I'd have to say the White Mice put out an album entitled Ganjahovadose and some of those songs are ridiculously heavy. Especially the Crapture.

I'm pretty sure that if i ever heard Night Goat by Melvins live, i'd jizz all over the place and than turned inside out from the heaviness

Heaviest as in "loud," it was GODLFESH at Medusas in Chicago on the Streetcleaner tour. That show made me ill. I'm not sure, but ENTOMBED may have played that show also.

Heaviest as far as the entire package (distortion, volume, feel, the band), hands down it's UNSANE. The sound that band makes is amazing.

They definitely get my vote. The Wall of Amber is brutal.

Stick with me here. I see heavy as being densely-layered deep, lowish sounds. Most bands try to sound heavy by tuning their guitars lower, but if a band were to layer, say, up to four bass guitars in harmony, would that make them the heaviest band?

If so, then of Montreal is the heaviest band, ever.

suck it metal. Brutal is for pussies.
