Dreams
I've been having trouble sleeping the past few nights. I've been waking up during these super terrible dreams.
People close to me passing away, my girlfriend turning into a zombie clown, bears attacking me, things of that nature.
Anyone ever experienced this and successfully overcome them somehow?

I'm on the same boat. Last night I had a dream that I got home in time to see someone jumping out the window with a bunch of my stuff and saw the person and yelled for them to stop, at that moment, I looked to see what was missing and my pedals were gone as well as a bunch of movies, tvs, all kinds of things I don't have actually. Then we hear a noise in the closet and some dude pops out with a gun and says, "I had everything taken away from me and it wasn't until then, I understood. Your possessions are nothing and are no longer yours'. You must stop being materialistic." He was overweight and had a royal blue velour track suit. I HATE VELOUR.
Best thing to do is practice lucid dreaming so it's always fun.
It definitely feels better to wake up after those horrific dreams.

Sounds like you've been watching Fight Club too much
"It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything"
"The things you own, end up owning you"
"Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need"
"You are not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis."

Re: Dreams
When I have trouble sleeping for more than a couple nights, I usually take the next available opportunity to get good and hammered. That usually results in deep, dreamless sleep and sort of "resets" the sleep cycle for me. YMMV, of course.

Re: Dreams
I had a continuing series of 6 or 7 zombie nightmares one time. They all took place in a snowy, abandoned city.
In the final one I was checking out this auto shop and saw that someone had been killed, smashed against the ceiling while laying on one of the car lifts. But as I came near, the body's torso fell on me, and of course I was done for because it was actually a still-functioning zombie.
Now whenever I have weird-ass dreams, as soon as I wake up I put them down in a text file. If there were specific images/maps of the area I remember, I draw them. The grammar is horrible and the description fragmented 'cause at the time I'm trying to get out everything I can remember as quickly as possible. It's entertaining to read back through them.

Re: Dreams
i have crazy dreams. i have really good recollection upon waking because i used to wake up every morning and write down my dreams.. i tend to forget them an hour or two later though
this might be a weird question, but is your bedroom abnormally warm lately? i've noticed that being hot gives you weirder/scarier dreams.
best thing ever is dreamscapes. everything's so beautiful but no words or drawings i could ever make can do them justice. anyone ever notice that their dreams sometimes take place in the same setting?

Re: Dreams
Are you thinking about this stuff before you go to sleep? I've found that if I try to sleep and I'm just kinda laying there thinking (which is never about good things), I tend to have bad dreams.
I take a lot of a OTC sleep aids for that reason. Just take something, watch some stupid show while it kicks in, and yer good.

Not really a good idea: Alcohol stops REM sleep so you get a dreamless sleep for a bit BUT your body can't cope with that so to compensate it will have a longer/more agressive REM sleep later on this generally results in more vivid dreams which in this case might be a real pain.
I'd go with the lucid dreaming thing basic routines to get out of dreams and such might be nice. Mc spunks advice is good too

sorta like this, i used to try and write down my deja vu when to see if i was actually going crazy. it was hard to get it down because its pretty fleeting in and of itself so i didnt get any conclusive. but it was bad, i would get deja vu and then like 5 more things would combo off it in about 10 seconds and i started to think i was going crazy

Do you sleep with a fan on? My friend had the same thing happen except it was always a swarms of bees. Don't sleep with a fan on. It will suck up all the oxygen and you'll die.
