Nice, I bike alot. I did the midnight bike ride here in Chicago. It starts at midnight and ends at 5 a.m. there were about threethousand people there. I also did a cycling and hosteling trip, in which I biked around Cape Cod on a bike with everything on my bike and stayed in hostells and camped in camp sites and stufff. In the begining there were eight at the end there were 6, two of them pussied out and went back home.

I got mine from a collective near me for free and fixed all the gears and whatnot and got new tires for it. I'm planning on biking to school tomorrow because I have a detention to serve after school and I live 10 miles away. :grumpy:

Thanks!

I'm stoked on it, it's really clean and the components are good, especially the cranks. I might replace the Shimano Light Action RD... we'll see how it holds up. Just gotta see if I can score a Brooks saddle on the cheapz. :erm:

I have a 1990s Klein mountain bike that i pummeled around San Francisco and used as a commute bike for years...i needed something that could stand up to the potholes, streetcar tracks, and bad pavement. i haven't ridden for awhile now, though i keep meaning to get it out. we're almost out of the rainy season here, so maybe this year.

i'd love to find a steel-framed road bike like that one, or an old Bianchi.

I ride a fixie that I built up from parts. I'm not a hipster, I just like the simplicity and used to have a commute that was 15 miles each way, every day, and this bike was my workhorse. I built it up short, with a short steam and bullhorn bars because I had hurt my shoulder the previous summer and I can't tuck into dropbars anymore. (And I was a bike mechanic for awhile, which led me to prefer the fixie.)

Not the best picture, but whatever:

The super-nice Miyata that I destroyed in the crash that destroyed my shoulder: (with the wheels that would eventually end up on the white bike above)

Every winter I build up a mountain bike to use as my winter bike, with semislick tires and fenders, etc. Usually they're so rusted from Milwaukee winters that I strip them back to the useable parts and donate those to our local bike collective / bike kitchen.

Badass!

Both my road bikes are currently in unusable condition. Still haven't gotten them fixed since the wreck
