Shortcut on the road to fame

Post by snipelfritz »

...so if I start doing stuff somewhat reminiscent of the 90's, in no more than five years I'll be the hottest thing since, uh, whatever is really hot now. Anybody with me? I mean, if 80's nostalgia is in now(and is on the way out), then grungealternastalgia is the new electropopstalgia.

For the old persons in ILF, what were the 90's really like, apart from some douches named Kurt and something else? All people my age(and younger pretend to) can remember is Pokemon. There was something about a president having an affair in office, but I thought that meant it actually happened IN the oval office.

In closing, I'm drunk

I'm not discrediting Mr. Cobain, but a rock god? I'm not so sure. My point really was insulting kids who were born in 1990 and act like they know the 90's.

FYI I was born in 1990 and all I remember was Pokemon

dude, my goal in life is to go viral, get signed, then get paid to be weird a la mgmt, maybe flaming lips if i am that cool.

i think 80s nostalgia isn't on the way out though. like, chillwave capitalizes on the whole sound and that's not going anywhere for a year or two. it just hit peak popularity, it's got some time left

i guess with the internet now though, it's harder to see the ebb and flow of -nostalgia's, because there are so many fucking accessible scenes and they can stay accessible for a long time.

I was 12 when Nirvana swept the nation/world and I fuckin' loved it. Music at the time was really shit, they were a breath of fresh air and led me to a bunch of bands that I still have love and respect for to this day. After that initial grunge wave, though, the 90's were a dark time for music. Bush, Limp Bizkit, the list goes on and on and on, just garbage everywhere and the internet wasn't much help either back then. I'd think it will be awhile before we see the return of the 90's though, I hope at least.

if anything, i think the 90's are going to be overlooked for the nostalgia wave for at least 5 years. including the time it SHOULD be popular again.

in the mean time i'm mixing early 90's lo-fi with early 90's post-rock and hoping for the best
