Grindcore is sort what you think hardcore is... hardcore mixed with metal, the actual name grind CAME from Napalm Death explaining what they were doing and the core was stuck on at some point... also in grind blast beats are key

Metalcore from at least when I first came across the term is a again a mix of hardcore and thrashmetal

I think Machine Head was the first band I ever saw labeled as such in a mag, although if I was to go by what the description is
