I can't wait, though I feel totally pedo bear since that's the little girl from that jim carrey movie.
I'd put my money on a Pan's Labyrinth ending.
It's about a crazy chick in an insane asylum tripping balls about ninjas/dragons/b52's before she is to be lobotomized.

I've only read Watchmen once, and I loved it, but the end of the film adaptation was a disaster. I won't go into it in case somebody hasn't read it, but with the Watchmen graphic novel, Alan Moore basically predicted the incredibly theatrical spectacle of 9/11 in a very interesting, satirical sci-fi kinda way, and the film version COMPLETELY ignored it. If people think the original spectacular disaster in the graphic novel is out-of-date or goofy, they are totally totally wrong. It is one of the most ahead-of-its-time (i.e. avant garde) conclusions in modern storytelling.

Of course..the guys who wrote the book absolutely hated the movie, so

I have to say the book was pretty great, though I thought it leaned a little heavy on the "OH LOOKIT ME! I'M A GRITTY COMIC BOOK! BEWBIES! BLOOD! DRUGS! DURR HURR"
Geez what'm I saying?
Look...I liked it...but I just thought it was edgy for the sake of being edgy, not for the sake of the story, in certain spots...- bobloblah

Re: I must see SuckerPunch.

what really did it in for me was
1) the ending
2) the cheesy use of music(all along the watch tower, then "hey look a towe" hallelujah"
3) i just don't like zach snyders style. i tried to give it a chance, i swear, but it's like i could smell him on it.

Yeah, but at the time that it was created/published, people weren't doing gritty stuff just to be gritty. I think that that could be said for myriad creations currently, but not for Watchmen, considering its birth date.
The sex scene in Watchmen (the film) was a little gratuitous, but AT LEAST THE CHICK WAS HOT HAAAAAYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBBBBEEEWWBBBBSS. I just think that the ending of the g.novel, as weird as it was, was rrrreeeaaallly smart. To me, the pure absurdity and over-the-top-ness of it perfectly illustrates present day media spectacle... 9/11 mostly, and the credulousness of humanity.

what a terrible debacle the film was. Seriously, coming from being such a fan of the comic I was disappointed so hard, and even moreso when the people I saw it with were talking crap on Moore BECAUSE OF THE FILM! and I couldn't explain to them that the film didn't stick to the book

Re: I must see SuckerPunch.
This thread is now about Watchmen
I agree with every criticism of the film I've ever heard except for this. They actually used the lyrics of All Along the Watchtower in the book, so
, it was the "two riders" line that was important. I don't remember exactly how "Hallelujah" fit in, but I remember liking something about it relating the song's sexual politics to he story. Anyone who thinks it is a "nice, pretty song" has walked right into Mr. Cohen's trap. It's not; it's kinky, depraved and depressed.
I fail to see how these two statements contradict each other. I agree with both of them
Yeah, the movie was as good of an adaptation you'll ever get, but a big part of what made Watchmen so great in the first place was the innovative use of the graphic novel as a medium. They had to change the ending because they were unable to introduce that whole underlying story-line(with the cartoonist and whatnot) without it seeming too obvious as to what was going on. Alan Moore's usage of materials other than pure comic-style story framing are what really take the narrative to the next level(also, the comic book within a comic book). Point is: Hollywood sucks and creativity is dead. Also, Zack Snyder is horrible and 300 was one giant pile of money-crazed repressed homosexuality.

Re: I must see SuckerPunch.
Never had any interest in the watchmen comic, and I like comics. Even as a kid, I knew it was so FAR UP ITS OWN ASS I would never get along with it. The movie just seemed stupid as hell.
