Warwick, yr not a fan of Zip's or Taco Time? I go to Spokane every year, and those are the two places I have to go to. Yes, I understand I'm heading two thousand miles north to get Mexican fast food. It's still good. Also, I could eat at the Satelite every day.

Some locations are good but the Zip's and Taco Time downtown are dirty and food is made with hate. Service is slow and unfriendly.

I'm at a disadvantage because I've been working in cafes and kitchens for so long I can tell when a restaurant is mis-managed and the staff is lazy. I went to the Wendy's out in the valley last week and the fries had this rancid nasty taste to them because the fryer oil needed to be changed. I love french fries and to serve fries that are cooked in abused oil is a travesty. I know it's gross and messy but get off your lazy ass and freshen up your fry oil every now and again you dicks (Wendy's isn't the only culprit). Think of it this way,...make food how you'd want to eat it and other people will likely enjoy it just as much as you do.

Now the Satellite is great drunk food,...nice greasy gut busting drunk food. I would eat there more often but my wife hates that place. I forget what it's called but the meat lovers omelet is fucking awesome. And the giant serving of hash browns kicks ass (shedded potatoes = hash browns,...cubed and fried potatoes = home fries). The Knights Diner is also pretty good for hungover breakfast at 2 in the afternoon.

I like Chicken and Mor. If you haven't when you are back up this way give it try. They have a "pulled" pork sammich that is hella good (it's actually sliced smoked pork,...not pulled),...it's not my favorite NC Style Pulled Pork but it is still good. They have a close facsimile of the vinegar based acidic spicy BBQ sauce that NC pitmasters usually use, because seriously,...FUCK THAT CORN SYRUP BASED SWEET GROCERY STORE KC MASTERSHIT SHIT, SWEET BBQ SAUCE IS FOR PUSSIES WITH SANDY VAGINAS FULL OF SAND. Chicken and Mor is run by a Black Guy who transplanted from Texas so it may be up your crack Donny Van. The Fried Chix is pretty fucking good and seemingly authentic. He got colly greens,...and bake beans,...and hushpuppies,...and karnbread and chicken patties. SHEEET He might even got fried catfish.

The wife and I have been hitting up a "Taco Truck" that is really good as well. It's open across from a few bars downtown and as a result is open for lunch for the yups that work downtwon,...a little siesta in the late afternoon (I wish America would adopt this custom,...I could always use a beer and a nap in the afternoon) then open from dinner time till the bars close. I love hitting that place up after a gig, when I've usually got the munchies from smoking pot and drinking free beer (the only real reason that I'm a "musician" is the free booze). They serve tongue, which you might like,...if you have a fetish fro making out with cows.

Fiesta Mexican on the South Hill is badass for local sit down Mexican Food. There is a place called Aracellia's II out in the Valley that has awesome New Mex and a local celebrity for it's Banana Chimichanga for dessert (not desert). You should check it out next time you roll through town.

I'm still pretty steamed about the whole Planter's Cheese Balls things. I fucking grew up eating those things and they discontinued them those fucks. Cheeto's are good and there are imitations of cheese balls but nothing can compare.

One thing I miss is Grandma Utz's Potato Chips. There is no distributor for them out this way. There is a regional kettle chip called Tim's (some people call me,.......Tim) but for some reason they taste burnt and trigger a gag reflex. Lay's Kettle Cooked Chips suck,...they just seem to lack any kind of character and taste sterile to me.

Does anyone feel like my last two rants come off in the same vein as the AVGN's foul mouthed reviews of shitty old forgotten about video games or the Nostalgia Critic (who isn't as funny but is equally as annoying BTW)?

For some reason purple mountain dew reminds me of Prince.

I miss the kind they used to have like 5 or 6 years ago when I was in high school. It was a darker purple, almost black. I can't remember what it was called though. I think it was the first new one they made after Code Red and Livewire.

OMG I just looked it up. It was called Pitch Black and it's scheduled for re-release in May Also, it originally was sold in 2004. I'm an old fart.
