Give me some Resources for Increasing my Guitar Skillz
Trying to get better at playing, i've been at a wall for far too long now and other than finding a band to play in (Difficult at the moment) I need some GOOD learning material.
Obviously the internet is full of resources but i've not found anything that is really... comprehensive without being too bogged down or for utter begginers.
I'd quite like to a) Get back to my scales, modes etc. b) Learn some Jazz, Classical & Mariachi Style Guitar and c) Get a fine grasp of the theory that accompanies these things without getting bored halfway through a senten...
Any decent suggestions?
Additionally, I find learning from someone else playing on videos hard, my brain translates it upside down so it takes me a while to work out what they're doing without tablature atleast.

This is what I use, it's pretty in depth and extremely centered on theory. I've been slowly making my way through it for a year now.

Yeah... slow is bad for me, I was self taught so I wouldn't say I lack discipline but... I need to go at a decent pace.
If I can find it in pdf i'll read it over though, can't afford bookz at the moment

Mostly I'm going slow because that's the way I read everything. I try to memorize everything, well, most things, before moving on, and that takes a while. And I'm just a slow reader. It took me a year to get through In Cold Blood

1.Get guitar lessons
2.Listen to new music to inspire you to play a new style
3.Join a new group in which you have to learn a new style
Any of these would be fine, I usually warm up with alternative major minor arpegios, so G maj., A min., B maj., ECT. You should try it (It sounds really cool to or too)

1. Can't afford them hence the request for free resources
2. Do that anyway
3. Stated that's not possible at present
Obviously a band would be best but not being able to do it right now, I need some stuff so to learn so that I don't waste the time and when I do find one, i'm good and ready.
Yeah I already warm up with lots of arpeggios and runs, getting a bit boring doing the same thing though, the guitar styles I requested are to get me into new thought patterns on the guitars neck and to get some strange picking and string jumps going that my hands are not used to.
Listened to some of that Derek Bailey, crazy shit.

This is a post I put on UG when someone else was asking for resources, and I kind of just kept adding to it. It has a lot of stuff that I'm sure will be helpful.
