eReader opinion

YO ILF

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a Nook Color. Aside from the "It doesn't use eInk" thing... Any reason not to?

Spend a bit more and get an iPad that does much more. Nooks are pointless. :idk:

I use my iPad for ebooks all the time, and it's great for it. Lightweight, works perfectly, and I can work from it on the go.

Not only that, but there are apps to remotely control a computer, so you can literally have your full computer setup with you at all times, in addition to the tons of things the iPad can do on its own. I've recorded with my iPad. I've watched movies with friends on my iPad. I've read tons of books on it, played games, posted on ILF, worked from it all day, and so much more.

It's hard to beat for on-the go...well, anything. If you buy new, you're at $500. More than a Nook, but worth it. If you buy used, you could be looking at $350-$450 depending on how quick you snag a deal.

I've got a buddy who has an iPad. Like me, he also has a blackberry. After about a week he realized that most of what he was doing on the iPad, he preferred to do with the blackberry. I'm not really looking for a computer as much as just something to read books on, ya know?

I wouldn't buy one, but that's just me. I prefer have an actual tangible book in my hands. I also like have books in my room so I look more sophisticated...

Even so, I still recommend the iPad. The ebook experience on it is far better than that on the "competing" ereaders.

You could probably buy your friend's iPad for pretty cheap, since he's not using it much.

I work for barnes and noble. Nook color is pretty cool and being a droid operating system means apps and such are in the works and you will be able to upgrade wirelessly rather than buy a new device

The only thing about the Nook (not sure about the new version) is that it's not back lit. If you sit and read a book on an e-reader that is back lit, it can cause severe eye strain over time. Now us nerds who sit in front of a PC (while we should be working and doing productive things with our time) have an easier time adjusting to this because we're so used to it. NERDS the lot of you! NERDS!!!!!!!!
