Klaus Nomi's lime tart recipe! :joy:
(more like :!!!: )

Crust:
1¼ cups fine graham cracker crumbs
1/3 cup brown sugar
¼ cup melted butter

Filling:
4 egg yolks
1 can sweetened condensed milk
½ cup lime juice

Pour crumbs into a bowl and mix with melted butter. Blend ingredients with your fingers until uniform.
Press firmly into 9-inch pie pan.
Beat the egg yolks. Add milk and beat. Pour in lime juice and beat until it thickens like pudding. Beat egg whites until really, really stiff and fold into the above mixture. Pour into pie pan. Garnish with thin strips of lime zest.
No baking necessary! Put directly into refrigerator. Ideally leave overnight.

---The lime does some magical neutralizing thing with the eggs so it's safe to eat, don't worry. You may or may not want to modify this recipe a little bit because every time I've made it, it has turned out fairly rich. I can't eat a very big slice.---

Definitely going to be trying this one. Also, what cookbooks do you all enjoy? I own a few, but lately I've been using Hellbent For Cooking the most. Every recipe has a big picture, a funny anecdote, and information on the band who submitted it. It's pretty neat. :snax:

I really like Alton Brown's first two. I'm Just Here for the Food and I'm Just Here for More Food (which is the baking book).

He puts in recipes but the books themselves are almost like layman's textbooks. They literally teach you how to cook and you can completely ignore the recipes,...improvise and still make a good meal.

Woah, each recipe needs an antidote. That is metal.

I think I'm going to make some tilapia tonight. Funny, spell-check doesn't recognize "tilapia" as a word. Anybody have interesting ideas of what would go good with it? I'm pretty tired of white rice.

Nah man, brown rice. That's where it's at. I'd do that with some steamed broccoli. Or, you could always do couscous instead of rice.

I like quinoa. A friend made a really good Mango Banana Almond and Coconut quinoa salad. Of course you can make savory stuff with it too.

What the fuck?

Color me surprised that you guys can all cook.

My contribution that is far simpler than anything posted so far, as I'm a pathetic chef:

Egg Sammich.

Ingredients:

-4-6 slices Bread (Italian, Sourdough, wheat, white, etc)
-3 whole eggs OR 4 egg whites
-2-3 slices of American cheese (cheddar works as well)
-1 tomato
-Mayonaise
-(Optional) 2-4 slices of ham/Canadian bacon
-(Optional) salt+pepper for eggs

Cook the eggs like you would an omelette, but don't fold it. You want an unfolded, fully cooked omelette with nothing on it. You can add salt and pepper to it if you want, but it's not necessary. Once done, cut to fit on bread. Usually cutting in half works fine, depending on the size of the bread slices and number of sandwiches. Place the cheese on the hot egg patty thing so that it gets nice and melty.

Toast the bread, and slice the tomato into normal sandwich slices.

Add mayo on the bread, put the tomato slices on the bottom slice, then the egg with melted cheese. Put the top piece on, and bam. Sammich. Repeat until all sammiches are made, and no egg is left.

Simple, but delicious.

In honor of the Stupid Bowl:

Of course you don't have to wait for a pointless football game to enjoy Buffalo Wings.

I've actually made these exactly the way AB does,...with the exception of the MacGuyver Steaming Apparatus.

They are really good and you don't have to fry the wings. Does create a lot of smoke because it's near impossible to steam away all the fat.
