Proper original or crappy Stereo XO?

The original has an almost... Robotic sound to it, it's really all kinds of awesome, not like your usual BOSS CE-2 or Small Clone sound at all.

Designed by Howard Davis who basically made all the more complex/interesting EHX Effects.

My buddy has one and it sounds pretty dec. It generally gets a fair bit of praise.
It's some noisy jank, though. The bad noisy.

You bring up a good point, there was 2 different versions, one with the edge switch (Noisey) and one with VibraFlange (Not so Noisey)

A Good Tune up should cure any other noise (Except for the Transformer noise which was inherent in all old EHX pedals that used one)

I had the newer Stereo Clone Theory. It's kinda cool, but it is pretty noisy. The vibrato is cool, but the chorus is a bit much, really. Really overwhelming.

In the right situation it's really cool. If it's cheap, pick up and try it out, but only if you'll be able to sell it. :idk:

hmm.. thanks guys!

i checked out a few youtube clips and i was actually able to hear the noise in most of 'em. weird... but i really dig the over the topness. i'm probably gonna cop one to fill that weird chorus gap in my life until i can afford a cosmichorus lol.

If you want something noisy and over the top its cool. I was looking for a more more modest vibrato sound, and would've prefered to be able to do both.

Now I want a Wiggler...

Hi,
I had both and I'd definitely go for the vintage one. Background hiss? Yeah.
But it sounded much better, had a more open sound. Newer Clone Th. kinda distorted at some point.
Anyway now I'm happy with a good Polychorus, since it's Electric Mistress/Clone Theory/slapback Memo Man in one pedal.
Besides reissue Polys are not noisy at all.

The Worm is meant to be REALLY Noisy, the Small XO one less so though.

It's simmilar in Topology to the Univibe I seem to recall.
